On May 27th, 2024, the prestigious Gala des Lauriers de la Gastronomie Québécoise lit up the stage at Montreal's New City Gas.

This annual event, eagerly awaited by restaurant professionals and enthusiasts alike, once again celebrated the excellence and passion of Quebec's culinary artisans.

The gala, hosted with dynamism and passion by Francis Reddy and Christine Plante, saw 17 awards presented to the winners, highlighting the innovation and talent of Quebec gastronomy.

A Decadent Menu to Match the Talent of Quebec Artisans

From the start of the evening, guests were greeted by a variety of food stations hosted by some of Quebec's most renowned chefs and artisans.

They were also treated to a welcome cocktail, an espresso martini with miso and vodka, prepared by Julien Vézina in collaboration with Maxime Coubès, Ajambika de Hono Izakaya, and Ubald.

Among them, Le Bar à Huîtres des Provisions Marines, Le comptoir pâté croûte from the 2022 and 2023 winners of the Americas selection of the World Pie Championship, and Le snack de chaloupe from renowned chef François-Emmanuel Nicol of Tanière3 were particularly eye-catching.

At the end of the evening, star popcorn from the ITHQ Bocuse d'Or 2023 team was served, followed by a late-night snack prepared by Kamúy's Paul-Harry Toussaint.

The wine list, devised by Caroline Beaulieu of Québec City's Légende restaurant, and the complimentary Estrella Damm beer added a touch of elegance and conviviality to the evening.

Spotlight on a Few Award Winners

We'd like to highlight a few of the winners who caught our eye at the Lauriers 2024 Gala.

Among the most moving moments of the evening, the video of Geneviève Everell from Sushi à la Maison won the Laurier du Public. Her heartfelt testimony touched the hearts of those present, despite her absence due to her active battle with cancer.

The Gastronomic Tourism prize was awarded to the Maison de Soma, located in Mont-Tremblant. This impressive award, won after only one year of operation, is a fine recognition of the excellence and innovation of this establishment. Gala des Lauriers 2024

The Quebec City-based Tanière3 restaurant distinguished itself at the Gala des Lauriers 2024, being nominated in several categories and winning two prestigious awards: Restaurant of the Year presented and Mixologist of the Year awarded to Simon Faucher.
