J'ai eu la chance de visiter le Vietnam & de déguster plusieurs excellents banh mi à Montréal; malheureusement le sandwich de ce restaurant ne goûte pas du tout comme un banh mi authentique & en est plutôt une bien pâle imitation. Bonne sélection de boissons chaudes & froides.

Excellent coffee shop in the heart of St-Roch district.
We found this little gem by wandering along St-Joseph street. The atmosphere is relaxed & inviting. Their coffees are deliciously brewed. There's also a very decent selections of premium teas. My daughters LOVED their milk shakes & cookies. It is also dog friendly. Competitive prices for the quality of coffees, 10x better than Starbucks!
Staff bilingual & very courteous.

[Update August 2025]: We returned to this place & they delivered again! Coffee good as always & the smoke salmon sandwich made with perfection, every single element was done right: the bagel, the smoked salmon, the cream cheese & capers & onions, just meticulously prepared. Bravo to the team! While it's sad to see the declining retail industry in this neighborhood, I was relieved to see Cafe Pekoe alive & well.
Café with a few vegan options & limited gluten-free options. I had the dragon bol with tofu which is vegan & without the fried wonton it is gluten-free. It was good, but the portion size was small. I think double the quinoa would have been better. My partner had the banh mi with veggie paté & liked it, but it would have been nice if the veggie paté would have been warm. The pastry options offer quite a few vegan options including brownie, financier, two cookies & a berry square. There was also a chocolate energy ball that was vegan & gluten-free. My partner ordered the financier & brownie. The financier was quite good & not too sweet. The brownie was more cake like, but still good. The service was a bit slow. They bring it at the table when you eat in, but it took 10 to 15 min to get our salad & sandwich. For a cafe style take out place, it feels a bit long, but we did come at rush hour & they made every order to serve instead of prepping in advance. The decor was nice, & a lot of places to sit & even a few tables outside. They had an extensive drinks menu which we did not test this time, but it looked quite good.
We asked the lady at the counter what to order, & she was so kind & helpful. She gave us lots of recommendations & explained the different types of bubble teas & how they taste. The place itself was very cute. There's an outdoor seating area that faces a little church, & it gives the whole spot a fun & very French vibe. Inside, the benches & tables were comfy & good for groups.
We didn't try the food, but I saw some sandwiches at another table & in the display case. They looked huge, fresh, & really tasty. The only issue I had was with the temperature inside. It was freezing cold. I asked the lady if they could lower the AC, but she said the whole space is temperature controlled & she couldn't change it. So I ended up moving outside to work. Other than that, everything else about the place was great.
Really good selection of tea here, with a ton of options to choose from. The tea is really nice & high quality. There's a ton of food options. The banh-mi isn't really a banh-mi though, more of a regular sandwich on soft bread with some pickled vegetables. The outdoor seating area is really nice though, & the staff are absolutely fantastic.
Leur sandwich Bahn Mi est le meilleur sandwich que j'ai pu trouver sur la rue St Joseph! De plus, les lattes aromatisés, les desserts & les Bubble teas sont génials! Les employés sont toujours là pour nous conseiller alors au niveau du service c'est excellent ! & pour finir l'ambiance & la déco sont superbes alors vraiment, c'est un café incontournable dans le coin! Update : 4 ans après avoir redigé cet avis, je suis retournée au café & je peux vous dire que la qualité du service & de la nourriture est toujours au rendezvous ! C'est le meilleur café en basse ville 💜
