Review Summary

La Midinette is widely regarded as a must-visit destination on Île d'Orléans, cherished for its beautiful riverside location, historic building, and charming atmosphere. Many patrons praise the exceptional quality of the pastries, particularly the almond croissants and savory scones, alongside a menu that features delicious lunch items like pizzas and quiches. While most visitors enjoy the warm service and the inviting indoor and outdoor seating areas, experiences with the staff can be inconsistent, and some guests find the pricing to be on the higher side. Despite minor critiques regarding service speed during busy periods or specific beverage recipes, the general consensus describes the bakery as a high-quality gem that offers a delightful sensory experience with breathtaking views.

The number one expectation of eating at a bakery (especially a French boulangerie) is FRESH bread. We ate a full lunch & ordered the assorted bread basket. What we got was toasted day old baguette bread & a piece of foccaccia. When I asked if I could possibly get a fresh slice of the beautiful type displayed in the front, I got more old bread. Aspargus is in season & abundant on the ile right now & that was a feature of the salad. I got what might be two skinny stalks chopped up, minus the tips (did the cook eat those?) The a la carte $18 sandwich was less than exciting. The pizza looked good, so maybe that's what reviews are mainly based on. We're getting tired of paying premium prices for cafes that maximize profits by cutting corners. When you charge high, just do better. It's good karma.
