A warm, inviting stop in the Old Port, Le Café du Monde delivered exactly the kind of morning I was hoping for. The view over the Saint?Laurent River set the tone right away calm, bright, & beautiful enough to make you linger a little longer than planned.

The food matched the setting. The pain dorée with fruits was comforting without being heavy, & the other meal we ordered was on the healthier side & balanced things out perfectly. The coffee stood out even more: rich, smooth, & surprisingly included in the price of the plate, which felt like a small victory in a world where refills usually come with a surcharge.

Service tied everything together. Our waiter was friendly, attentive without hovering, & genuinely added to the experience.

A place worth returning to, especially if you want good food with a great view & a relaxed atmosphere.

Had a great dinner at Cafe du Monde. The food & river views are fantastic! We had a wonderful waitress. I believe her name was Joanne. Highly recommend!

Beautiful setting & view. Nice & comfortable rooms. But we will not be back given the price/quality ratio.

The low rating comes specifically from:
1. Understaffed. The young lady serving our table was working hard - it was obvious she did her best to serve multiple groups at the same time. Results were: a long wait time for taking our orders, delays in getting more wine, & settling our invoice.
I suspect the kitchen to also be understaffed: it took way too long to get our meal & our desserts.
2. Our food was underwhelming - just OK - except for 2 dishes that were judged to be good (not great). Salad with duck confit was dry & didn't taste much, fish has a strong smell, parmentier had a weird tasting topping, burger & industrial fries were bland.
