Review Summary

Casse-Croûte chez Mag receives highly polarized feedback, serving as a popular destination known for its generous lobster-themed dishes and iconic poutine. While many patrons praise the fresh, large portions of lobster and the scenic outdoor picnic area, others express frustration regarding inconsistent food quality, specifically citing issues with soggy or burnt fries, lukewarm sauce, and occasional concerns over ingredient freshness. The establishment is frequently busy, leading to long lineups, though many find the service to be efficient and friendly despite the rush. Opinions on pricing are mixed, with some feeling the generous portions justify the cost, while others view it as expensive for a casual canteen setting. Ultimately, it remains a heavily discussed spot on the island, drawing both enthusiastic fans and visitors who feel the experience does not always live up to the social media hype.

Les frites très pâles à mon avis ne sont pas assez cuite. Mais la poutine aux crevettes ma préférée, très bonne 👍

The best poutine I've ever had!
The fries were fresh & crispy, & I tried the smoked meat poutine - absolutely loved it. The location is stunning, set in one of the most beautiful spots on the island. It can get quite busy, but the wait is short, & the view makes it totally worth it. A perfect place to enjoy great food with a great atmosphere!

Poutine délicieuse !

The best non-traditional poutine in Québec. The lobster was fresh, plentiful, chewy, & just sweet enough. Overtop, the butter-gravy hybrid sauce goes surprisingly well with the lobster, like a more savoury lobster butter with a hint of brine. Lastly, the fries take a backseat but are still well-done as far as texture & taste.

Despite the line & blazing sun, Chez Mag is well-worth the short road trip from Quebec City.
