We've been here more than once, & the food has always been consistently delicious. The burgers are juicy, flavorful, & exactly what you want after a day of exploring the city. & the poutine? Absolutely fantastic. When you're in Quebec, you have to have poutine, & this place does not disappoint.
& then there's the milkshakes… so good! The perfect sweet treat to round out the meal.
What I love most is that despite being popular & busy, the quality has remained consistent every time we've visited.
If you're visiting Quebec City & wondering whether the lineup is worth it, the answer is yes. Get in line, be patient, & enjoy. Your stomach will thank you later! 😋🍔🍟🥤
Le menu était alléchant. L'accueil & le service très sympathiques. Par contre ma poutine baignait dans 2 cm de liquide (au fond du bol). Le cuisinier avait mis trop d'eau en diluant la poudre de la « sauce maison ». Du coup c'était pas très bon, surtout le fromage devenu caoutchouteux avec le liquide. Je goûtais ce plat pour la première fois, pas prête d'y revenir !
Des serveurs tres sympas, les plats & les boissons sont très bons (le lait frappé caramel salé sirop d'érable est incroyable) & le restaurant est très bien placé, que demander de plus !
We ordered the La Forestière, the LE BBG, & the Blackcurrant-Blueberry cocktail, & every single item delivered. The LE BBG stood out with its juicy spice-crusted chicken breast, sharp local cheddar, crunchy red cabbage slaw, & smoky house BBQ sauce layered perfectly in each bite. Paired with the rich, earthy comfort of the La Forestière & the refreshing berry-forward cocktail, the entire meal felt indulgent, balanced, & unforgettable.
If you are looking for poutine this is not the place. Ordered the braised beef poutine & it was a soupy mess. They don't even serve the poutine with fries, despite serving fries with the burgers! Burgers were better than the poutine. I also thought it was overpriced, but you are in tourist town
Poutine qui n'était pas vraiment une poutine…. sauce figée & froide (on aurait dit une compote au roast beef), patate déjeuner au lieu de frite. Le burger était correct, la viande était bonne & les bacon aussi ainsi que la salade. J'espère sincèrement que la poutine était une erreur sinon appeler pas ça de la poutine car ça fait honte au Québec. 3/10 overall
Great experience at Le Chic Shack, right in the heart of the historic Old Quebec area. The location alone makes it a perfect stop while exploring the charming streets of the city.
The burgers were excellent, juicy, flavorful, & clearly made with quality ingredients. Everything felt fresh & well-prepared, from the beef to the buns & toppings.
The fries were also a highlight, with both regular & sweet potato options cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside & soft inside, with great seasoning. The in-house made drinks were refreshing & added a nice unique touch to the meal.
What makes the experience even better is the atmosphere outside. Being in the historic district means you're surrounded by beautiful architecture, lively streets, & you often hear street musicians playing nearby, which really adds to the vibe.
Overall, a fantastic spot for a casual but high-quality meal in one of the most beautiful areas of Quebec City. Highly recommended!
Le Chic Shack has the most out of this world authentic poutine! The potatoes were crispy under a heavenly smooth sauce with beef, pickled onion & of course cheese curds galore!
This was truly authentic, made from fresh potatoes, cheese curds & slow cooked shredded seasoned beef on top. The portion size they serve is generous. They have small & large bowl sizes with plenty of other poutine choice varieties.
I also had a simple traditional burger which was delicious & a nice compliment with the poutine. The bun was super fluffy & the special sauce complimented the meat nicely.
Le serveur qui ne vous dit pas au revoir, car vous n'avez pas laissé le pourboire alors que le service a été mauvais!. Ils se sont trompés dans le choix de ma boisson, mais je n'ai rien dit, & le burger était relativement froid..

Good burger joint with a great view. Veggie burger available is quite good, which I had, & partner said their bison burger was also delicious. The poutine range is very good, we had a mushroom one (veggie) which was quite different to other poutine we have tried but still really delicious. I would have happily eaten the large option as a meal on its own (we had the small to share with our burgers). Views onto the big chateau are really nice to enjoy while eating. Staff were really helpful & friendly & the service was nice & fast & polite. Was very happy to tip them at the end.
We ate 3 meals here over a 3 day period- breakfast one day & then 2 lunches. Service was quick & food was delicious. Perfectly located in the square by the Chateau Frontenac & was a great spot for a sit down break. Glad we found it quite by accident.

We stopped into Le Chic Shack because very hungry after traveling. It seemed like the best & most affordable option close to hotel after checking in, & it was fantastic. Staff also worked with us & was polite with us English speaking Yankees.
Burger was fresh, never frozen, & absolutely delicious, 10/10. All other ingredients very fresh, several locally sourced.
Salad was fresh & delicious also, with actual lemon juice in the dressing.
Cookie dessert was outstanding as well. Full of flavor & real maple syrup drizzle on cream accompaniment.
Overall 10/10, fairly priced & would gladly go back.
Breakfast was also equally as impressive, & came with freshly cut up fruit (strawberries & bananas) cup.
