Review Summary

Chocolaterie de l'Ile d'Orléans is widely regarded as a must-visit destination for its exceptional chocolate and highly praised ice cream, particularly the chocolate-dipped cones. Visitors frequently highlight the charming atmosphere, beautiful setting, and lovely views of the river as key reasons for stopping, though many note that the popularity of the location often leads to crowded conditions, long lines, and parking challenges. While the majority of reviews celebrate the high-quality products and friendly service, opinions on pricing vary, and a small number of guests have expressed concerns regarding staff interactions or service consistency. Overall, it is considered a classic stop for those exploring the island, offering a delightful experience for both locals and tourists alike.

We had a fantastic experience here! The kids absolutely loved the ice cream. A quick heads up for visitors-the serving sizes are massive, way bigger than what you typically get at European gelato or ice cream shops, which was a wonderful surprise. The outside sitting area is great & offers a beautiful, relaxing space to enjoy your treats. Highly recommended!

Went to the ice cream shop, which is open until 8pm, as the chocolaterie closes at 5pm. We were not disappointed. The ice cream were delicious & my kids really enjoyed their choices. We sat in the front lawn where there are rocking chairs. A must quick stop.

This little shop has a variety of chocolate treats with an ice cream made attached (a so wonderful view included). We purchased a few chocolate treats & then purchased two dipped soft serve ice cream cones: cookies & cream & salted caramel. You gotta go.

I had the best dark chocolate drink at Chocolaterie during our visit. They offer a wide variety of chocolates & sweet treats that are perfect for any chocolate lover. It was a great stop on our tour since the shop is located on beautiful Île d'Orléans, making it a memorable part of the experience. The place has a cozy & inviting atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer. When we were there, it was quite busy, which shows how popular this spot is with visitors. There's also a nice selection of souvenirs & food items that you can buy to take home. I definitely think it's worth a visit if you're exploring the island. Overall, this chocolate shop was a delightful highlight of our trip especially its so cold during our visit.

🍫 Choclatérie de l'Île d'Orléans - A Sweet Escape Near Montmorency Falls

Just a short drive from the stunning Montmorency Falls, tucked away on Île d'Orléans, is one of those places you don't just visit - you remember. The Choclatérie here is more than just a stop for dessert; it's an experience.

We went for the Nutella scoop, & honestly, it was out of this world. Smooth, creamy, & perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness. But here's the secret - there's so much more that many visitors walk right past without noticing.

✨ Hidden gems not to miss:
• The chocolate-dipped cones with unique local flavors (hint: ask for the seasonal fruit drizzle - it's not always on the board, but it's unforgettable).
• Handmade truffles crafted with Québec-sourced ingredients - delicate, rich, & a perfect souvenir to take home.
• Their frozen chocolate mousse cups (easy to miss in the display!) are the kind of treat that you won't find in big-city dessert shops.
• For true chocolate lovers, the dark chocolate bark with local berries is a must-try.

The place itself feels charming & welcoming, with scenic views of the island that make your ice cream break feel like part of a perfect Québec road trip. Parking is easy, the staff are friendly, & you can even catch a glimpse of the chocolate-making magic inside.

🌟 Pro Tip: Visit here after walking the stairs at Montmorency Falls. It's the sweetest reward for your effort, & it turns the trip into a memory worth sharing.

If you're in Québec City or planning a day trip, this stop is non-negotiable. It's one of those local treasures that deserve way more attention than the big chain spots.

The chocolate shop was too busy when we went (Saturday afternoon) so we checked out the ice cream shop instead. We were not disappointed, it was delicious!

This is a great chocolate shop with a wide variety of offerings. Maybe the best feature is the dairy bar at the back of the store where you can purchase a soft serve ice cream cone dipped in your choice of dark chocolate, salted caramel, or maple syrup. I got the chocolate & my partner got the maple syrup dip. Having tried them both, I would unreservedly recommend giving either a try.
