We stopped here for an afternoon treat, but unfortunately, it wasn't quite what we expected. If you're looking for chocolate ice cream, this isn't the place-they only offer vanilla, which has a somewhat icy texture rather than being creamy & rich.
Their specialty is fruit ice cream, where frozen fruit is blended into the ice cream. They have a good variety of flavours, but there is a concern for anyone with allergies or strong fruit preferences. The machine is not cleaned between flavours, so different fruits can mix. For example, one person in our group ordered blueberry & found strawberry mixed in at the bottom of the cone. The same thing happened with the raspberry flavour, which still had blueberry mixed in.
I think simply rinsing the machine between flavours would make a big difference. The cones are also quite small for the price-$6.50 for a kids' cone & $7.50 for a regular. Overall, we found it overpriced & wouldn't return.
It was a nice surprise to discover here for some sweets. Fresh frozen fruited from the areas mixed with vanilla ice cream to create your perfect soft ice cream. Wonderful way to serve & bilingual staff is super friendly. Across from St. Anne Church.
The best ice cream I've had since arriving in Canada for holiday. The concept is great, a base of vanilla ice cream or veggie ice cream crush with fruits. You can choose your fruit.
amazing! we had both the slush & a strawberry ice cream cone, you can really taste the fresh fruit blended in, & it is truly delicious & refreshing. the vanilla base for the ice cream is creamy without feeling fatty, which is often an issue i have with soft serves. a lovely little surprise after visiting the basilica on a hot summer day!
While on the road we felt like ice cream so this small place popped up on maps. Hidden right next to the highway, (& facing this monumental cathedral) there it was: a very small innocent shop. But don't let the size fool you: this ice-cream shop makes one of the best ice creams that I've ever tasted in my entire life. The blend of natural ingredients (fruits & berries) with a delicious vanilla cream base made me devour the ice cream cone in record time. The lovely young lady who served us was so welcoming & sweet, with amazing energy. This small experience made my day.
If you're passing by the area & you feel like ice-cream, skip the main, known stores & give this place a visit. Believe me, you'll leave with a smile on your face & your taste buds thanking you for the delicious experience.
If you visit the Sanctuaire Sainte Anne de Beaupré, do yourself a favor & step into the nearby Crémerie. The ice cream I had here was the best I tried, not just in this area but in Old Quebec & the Île d'Orléans too. They mix fruits with a vanilla ice cream base (or a vegan oat option) to create their soft serve ice cream. I had the vanilla base with camerise & it was so delicious I was truly tempted to go back & order another. (Sorry for the pic, I was well into it when I remembered I needed evidence).
Sammy's Ice Cream, located right in front of the beautiful Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré Church, is a beloved local gem. Known for its cozy atmosphere, this famous ice cream store offers a delightful selection of flavors, with their vanilla & fruity ice creams being particularly popular among visitors. The quality & taste of the ice cream are exceptional, making it a must-visit spot for anyone in the area. If you're looking for a sweet treat after exploring the church or simply want to enjoy a refreshing ice cream on a warm day try Sammy's.
