Le Petit Château is widely appreciated for its cozy and inviting atmosphere, making it a popular destination for those looking to enjoy a meal in Old Québec. Many visitors highlight the delicious cheese and chocolate fondues as well as the variety of savory crêpes available on the menu. The restaurant offers a charming setting with both indoor and outdoor seating, often enhanced by live music and a warm ambiance that is particularly well-suited for winter visits. While experiences can vary, many diners consistently praise the friendly and attentive service provided by the staff, who are noted for being welcoming to families and accommodating to pets on the terrace.
Went as a group of four. Had the fondue trio which was great. Cheese fondue was tasty, meat was tender, broth was good, & the chocolate fondue delicious. Overall a nice experience.
I feel like the interior got updated since our last visit. I remember the interior having more character.
Overall, a great evening & fun-due is always great.
We accidentally happened upon this restaurant on our recent trip & it was delicious! The crepe (apple & maple with cheese) I had was fantastic & we returned again on our trip for another one. Fondue was also delicious. The restaurant was small & cute & we had great experiences with the staff.

Cozy, warm, & honestly the perfect Valentine's Day spot. We ordered the trio: bread with cheese fondue, then beef cooked in hot broth, & finished with chocolate fondue. Everything felt comforting & fun, & it truly made my Valentine's Day. 💛🍫
I have been with my family during my vacation, & we absolutely loved it. The food was very good, I suggest the blue cheese fondue, & the service was exceptional. If you want a nice experience during your time in Québec city, you won't be disappointed at Le Petit Château!
I wouldn't recommend this place - it made me sick. I had a gluten free crepe with ham & cheese & a glass of wine. My server was fine. I'm not confident that the crepe was truly gluten free. I'm not sure if that's what made me sick. If you are celiac, stay away!!!!! The ham & cheese were both very rubbery. Nothing seemed particularly fresh or like they took pride in the food. I stayed & ate because I was starving & hadn't eaten all day but I wish I had stayed hungry & gone someplace else. The table'candles' are kerosene & the odor bothered me the entire time. It was $50 for my crepe + wine + tip & really not worth it. Also, reading other reviews, the PR responses here are unprofessional.
We were a group of 4. We had one crepe, a chicken fondue for 2 & the 3 fondues for 2. We shared everything between the four of us & had LOTS to eat.. everything was delicious! The crepe & cheese fondue was brought out first as appies. & then the chicken & beef fondue, which included a small salad & a baked potato & finally the chocolate fondue. It was a slow, relaxed dinner. The waiter was an entertaining character & we really enjoyed ourselves. We thought we were so full we wouldn't be able to eat the chocolate fondue but it all disappeared. It was served with various fruits & mini-marshmallows. Overall it was a great dining experience. I would definitely recommend this place.
Don't get sucked in to this place. Very disappointed in this restaurant, especially considering its premium location right next to the renowned Chateau Frontenac. We ordered the Trio fondue - cheese, meat & chocolate. The cheese fondue came & the bread was already stale - ok, no big deal. We quickly finished that course, but then waited ages to have it removed. Finally the 2nd fondue arrived. Broth that was basically French Onion soup stock & thinly sliced beef. It was ok - not amazing but decent. However, once again we had to wait eons for our plates to be cleared & the next fondue course served. After nearly 2 hours there, we still had not received our 3rd course. Our server was all over the place, but not checking in with us. The maitre'd only seemed interested in seating people & keeping an eye on the door - he was evidently the boss but did nothing to expedite service (like serve water or bar drinks). Extremely lazy. . I saw several tables that waited forever for their food orders to be taken, & one table just got up & left.
After waiting far too long for our dessert fondue to arrive, we hailed the the'boss' down & said we just couldn't wait any longer - we were exhausted. We asked him to cancel our 3rd course & get our server to bring the bill. Again - this took over 15 minutes just to get her to come to the table with the bill & card machine. We paid $179 for a pot of cheese fondue for 2 & a meat fondue with a tray of sliced beef - less than 100grams, a baked potato & a green salad that had no dressing & 3 glasses of house wine. They didn't take the dessert fondue off our bill because it was part of a'Trio' order. I stupidly left a $20 tip because I was so exhausted that I could not bear to wait for the change on $200.
Also, the tables & chairs are shabby & need replacing. A couple near us had a pendant light fixture fall from the ceiling after he bumped his head on it while sitting down - crashed all over the place. Lucky he wasn't hurt
Spend a $100 more & go to Le Continental across the street. You will have one of the most amazing meals of your life there & you won't have thrown away $200
Avoid Le Petit Chateau & don't be seduced by its location. It is a rip off.
I brought my family here this evening to experience traditional fondue because it's not something we experience commonly in our province. We were seated quickly & Pascal took our order for a three course fondue meal. It started out well enough & the cheese fondue was excellent. However, our waiter seem to have forgotten about us after the first course & served the entire restaurant while we sat there in total for an hour & a half. At this time, we decided to cancel the rest of our order & leave. The waiter was asked by other staff to bring our bill & he never did end up coming back to the table. Another waiter had to set the bill for us. If you get Pascal for a waiter, I would recommend you ask to be seated in another area. Worst service we have ever experienced.
