Beautiful place with outdoor seating. The server was somewhat rude. I asked for Chardonnay; he brought warm wine. Hot summer white wine being warm was a no-go for me. I asked for a chilled one, & he brought a different wine, chilled, but not Chardonnay, though he didn't say that the wine wasn't Chardonnay. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to spoil the dinner. The food was not good either. I wished I had gone to a different local restaurant. Nothing is good there except the location.
Wow ! La plus belle vue sur l'île ! C'était mon premier séjour dans cette auberge, & ce ne sera certainement pas le dernier. À chacune de mes visites à Québec, c'est ici que je voudrai séjourner.
L'île d'Orléans possède déjà un charme unique, mais cette auberge est un véritable petit bijou. La chambre était impeccable, très propre & confortable, & le service était attentionné du début à la fin.
Nous avons également réservé pour le souper, & tout était délicieux. Le repas, accompagné d'une vue absolument magnifique, a rendu l'expérience encore plus mémorable.

Nous avons soupé au restaurant les Ancêtres. Quelle merveilleuse soirée, l'accueil & le service sont tout simplement merveilleux, on a l'impression d'être en famille. & que dire du repas, la cuisine est succulente & les produits locaux merveilleusement mis en valeur. Il y avait longtemps que nous n'avions pas aussi bien mangé. Un grand merci à tous ceux qui ont fait de cette soirée un merveilleux moment.
We visited Les Ancêtres Auberge Restaurant on Île d'Orléans on our last night in Quebec, & we are so glad we did. We've gone to the island many times in the past for wineries, but had never gone for dinner & this experience completely exceeded our expectations.
The restaurant itself is stunning. You walk into a beautiful dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Montmorency Falls & the city. The views are incredible. We were seated in a smaller, cozy room to the right, part of the original building. It was filled with historic photos & old wooden tables, & you could truly feel the history in the space.
We were warmly greeted by Mireille, who runs the restaurant with her husband. She shared the story of her mother-in-law, whose grandparents purchased the land & built the property in the 1600s. She even showed us old photos & took the time to talk with us & our kids, which made the experience feel really personal & special.
We asked Mireille for recommendations, & everything she suggested was outstanding. I ordered the tasting menu (meat pie, meatball, maple pudding, & coffee), my wife had the warm goat cheese starter & the chef's special (beef in a mushroom sauce) & our kids shared the chicken dish.
Everything was excellent, but the chef's special was hands-down the best thing we ate during our entire vacation. The meat was cooked perfectly, & the mushrooms & sauce were incredibly flavorful, truly unforgettable.
Mireille encouraged us to walk around & explore the property & continued to share stories & history with us throughout the meal. Her warmth & hospitality made the evening even more memorable.
We've been coming to Quebec every year for ten years (usually around New Year's) & we will absolutely be returning to Les Ancêtres. It is 100% worth the short trip outside the city, & we'll be recommending it to our family & friends as a must-visit.
