Petit paradis mexicain au coeur de Baie-Saint-Paul, nous avons adoré notre expérience. La nourriture était délicieuse (pieuvre grillée & tacos à la morue panée) & le service vraiment chaleureux. Nous reviendrons assurément lors d'un prochain séjour :-) ¡Gracias amigos!

NIxtamal is an outstanding, total masterpiece of a restaurant in the heart of Baie-Saint-Paul in Charlevoix. Located on Rue St-Jean-Baptiste, the primary shopping & dining road in the town, this establishment apparently opened in October 2024 & has quickly become super-popular here, which can be seen on any evening, because the place is usually full. Reservations are highly recommended, & although the restaurant makes every effort to accommodate last-minute walk-ins, there is no guarantee that they have space on their busiest nights, & at the very least, the wait might be very long.

However, the popularity is warranted. This is a fantastic, authentic, cozy, & high-quality restaurant. The food is delicious, fresh, & absolutely on-point. Rather than just a basic list of typical Mexican options that many standard restaurants offer, the team at Nixtamal have decided to create some original & unique dishes that feel like family recipes from the kitchen of a Mexican home. The results are marvellous.

Every item we ordered was excellent, with tasty ingredients & a nice balance of flavours. With the open kitchen visible within the small dining space, the hard work of the team is evident & should be commended.

On top of that, the staff are warm, friendly, professional, & attentive. The owners (one Québécoise, one Mexican) are a delightful couple who bring a personal touch & genuine love to the food & drinks they prepare, leaving you satisfied & content at the end of a meal.

My wife & I absolutely adored our recent dinner at Nixtamal, & we already look forward to our next meal there. We will surely be visiting this place each time we are in the Charlevoix region. I HIGHLY recommend it & certainly would consider it one of the best Mexican restaurants in Québec! Consider it a slightly hidden gem, yours to discover if you manage to visit Baie-Saint-Paul.

Un très bel ajout au centre-ville de Baie Saint Paul, endroit très accueillant & la nourriture (surtout la sauce Mole) était un vrai délice. Nous reviendrons!
