Quebec City has a wide range of tasty options when it comes to eating good poutine.

We've gathered our favorites in both classic and original recipes.

For all those people who like to be able to choose what goes on their plate, La Poutinerie is a great option for you! With its 7 different sauces and 35 choices of toppings, there is enough to customize your poutine to your taste! You also have the option of choosing the restaurant's original recipes. Every month, different poutines are created, so you can try a new one every time you visit.

An institution in the Quebec City area in terms of snack bars, people come here for the poutine as well as for their burgers. Located in Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier, this establishment is seasonal and is open when winter is not. Open since 1980, Casse-croûte Marcotte will satisfy your craving with their Italian poutine, the dulton, or even the classic! The potatoes are made into fries on the spot and they are so crispy.

Frite Alors was created in 1991 to offer crispy Belgian fries to Montrealers. Following the craze, several branches opened in Quebec and also in France. Today, you can find excellent poutines with homemade gluten-free sauce, cheese curds, and hand-cut Belgian fries. Among the recipes to try, we recommend the Ginette (bacon, grated orange cheddar, sour cream, and green onions), the Tunisian (lamb and red onions), or the General Tao. If you like seasoned mayonnaise, dip it in one of their homemade sauces. The poutines are also available in many grocery stores.

La Souche has two branches: one in Limoilou and the other in Stoneham. You'll find beers brewed on-site that explore Quebec's biodiversity. Go there to spend a great moment around a tasty beer and eat delicious poutines. The team is constantly going above and beyond to create original recipes that are announced on their social networks. The ones that are always on the menu are worth a visit, like the boûles du bucheron (breaded and fried cheese curds served with a homemade hopped BBQ sauce) or the beef and bacon poutine. The original is available in a vegan version. Perfect to accompany a night of drinks!

A family-owned and operated restaurant on Orleans Island since 1981, offering a variety of comforting dishes in an enchanting decor and warm atmosphere. You feel at home as soon as you step in! They transform many products on-site such as homemade soups, merguez sausages, and their pies. The portions are generous and we recommend you try the poutine Filles de l'île or the famous pouti-pizza. Don't leave without trying one of their delicious pizzas as well!

Existing since 1946, Fromagerie Victoria was first created in Victoriaville. They have been serving poutine since 1988! In 2010, the expansion begins with new branches, so in 2016 franchises open their doors throughout Quebec. Needless to say, cheese is served in abundance, but that's not all. The fries are prepared on-site and the sauces are tasty. If you like an extra touch of crunch, go for the fried cheese curds! Their sauces and cheeses are available in many grocery stores and their online store.

This small restaurant (33 seats only) with a retro feel will charm you every time you visit. The menu is comforting and reminiscent of our mothers' cooking all with a festive touch. The dishes are inspired by American cuisine with a Quebec touch and vice versa. The poutine bolognaise is prepared with homemade spaghetti sauce and believe us, it is sublime! Many would say that they serve the best-fried chicken in town, so don't leave without trying it!

If you like hearty poutines with a twist, Frit's Burgers & Poutines at the Pyramid in Sainte-Foy is the place for you. The fries are freshly prepared on-site, the beef is 100% pure and the sauces are tasty. The exclusive recipes are decadent and for the big poutine fanatic: the Royale combines a burger, poutine, and onion rings while the Bûcheron has a Sterling Silver beef patty, bacon, BBQ pulled pork, and crispy fried onions. You'll enjoy every bite and they won't leave you hungry!

A true Quebec City institution in terms of snack bars, Chez Pierrot has been open since 1972! They moved in 2021 on 1st avenue to answer a growing demand and to serve more customers at the same time. At the same time, they are adding prepared meals, which will allow you to reproduce poutines at home with their sauces sold in 500 ml format. Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, this is a place to satisfy any poutine craving at any time. They serve well-prepared classics with brown, BBQ, pepper, hot, or Italian sauces. All you have to do is choose the recipe with your favorite toppings!

You love poutine, but there's always one ingredient missing or too many to choose from? That's not a problem at Poutineville, because you'll be able to customize every order. You'll have a wide selection of 40 different ingredients, 4 types of potatoes, and 11 cheese choices. They also offer the possibility to choose among their favorite recipes. Find a warm and festive atmosphere every time. Enjoy your dish with a glass of wine, a microbrewery beer, or a cocktail.

A family-run seasonal business in Sainte-Famille on Île d'Orléans, Casse-croute chez Mag has earned its reputation. Many people come from all over the province to enjoy their lobster poutine. The quantity is very generous and the flavors are perfectly balanced. If you like more classic recipes, but well-executed, you will also find them with the piquante, the Rachel, the Dalton, the King Plus, or the classic. By taking your order to go, you can eat your poutine a few steps away in a park with a magnificent view of the St. Lawrence River.

A must in Val-Bélair for many years, Patates Plus has won many contests for its excellent pizza. Even though it is excellent, it is not the only reason to visit them. Offering poutines ranging from baby to jumbo size, there is something for every appetite and every occasion. We like the festive poutine (BBQ sauce, chunks of sausage, bacon, white onions, and a sweet BBQ sauce drizzle) or the pizzatine (fries, spaghetti sauce, pepperoni, mushrooms, green peppers, mozzarella cheese, and oven-baked). Finish your meal with a good churro (or several)!

The Chick Shack is on Rue du Fort in Old Quebec and has been serving up tasty burgers, poutines, and milkshakes since 2012. The ingredients are carefully selected from local suppliers, so you'll be able to support several businesses in one visit! Their poutines are made with a secret recipe of fries, homemade gravy, and cheese curds. The Forestière will comfort you at any time with its wild mushroom ragout, cheese curds, parmesan, French shallots, and fresh herbs. While the Braised with a red beer beef braise, cheese curds, aged cheddar, pickled onions, horseradish aioli, and fresh herbs will have you feeling like you're on the edge of a warm fire. Wash it all down with a nice milkshake or homemade soda.

Serving poutine since 1972, what started as a small snack bar on the corner of Hamel and Notre-Dame quickly became a Quebec City staple. Now with over 23 locations, it offers poutines prepared with quality ingredients and fresh from local producers. There are 3 well-established recipes: the classic, the dulton, and the galvaude. All you have to do is decide which size and sauce you want. Try their excellent meatloaf sandwich at the same time!

Operating in the summer, Neuville's Snack Bar is definitely worth a stop for its breathtaking view of the St. Lawrence River. We come to enjoy the landscape, eat delicious fast food, savor ice cream while letting the children play in the play area. As for the poutines, they are excellent with a choice of brown sauce, BBQ, 50/50, or homemade spaghetti. Customize your poutine plate with extra bacon, sausage, smoked meat, sliced cheese, green peas, or the expo mix (chili, tomato, onions).

Poutine can be found on many menus and is part of Quebec's heritage...there is something for everyone and we love it!
