About

Boulangerie Louis Marchand & Compagnie operates as a focused culinary hub centered on traditional artisanal baking and savory preparation. The establishment features an extensive selection of classic French pastries characterized by laminated doughs and high quality butter inclusions. Specialized preparation techniques extend to the production of hearth-baked pizzas that utilize long fermentation methods to achieve specific structural integrity and flavor profiles. The environment prioritizes functional workspace and display efficiency to maintain a consistent output of baked goods for immediate consumption. Patrons interact with a curated inventory of items that balance the delicate crumb of viennoiserie with the robust crusts of rustic sourdough offerings. This venue maintains rigorous standards for ingredient sourcing to ensure that every finished item adheres to established technical requirements for texture and taste profiles.

Review Summary

Boulangerie Louis Marchand & Compagnie is highly regarded as one of the best bakeries in Quebec City, consistently praised for its exceptional variety of fresh, flaky, and delicious sweet and savory pastries, including standout croissants, chocolatines, and scones. Customers frequently highlight the warm, inviting atmosphere and the consistently friendly, attentive, and helpful service provided by the staff. The menu offers high quality coffee and unique options like matcha lattes, making it a favorite spot for breakfast or a relaxing coffee break. While most visitors consider it a must-visit destination that is well worth the trip, some note that the indoor temperature can be uncomfortable during the summer months due to a lack of air conditioning.

One of the best pastries we have had in the city! Their breads are fresh, the savory & sweet pastries are both phenomenal!! The service was great, very helpful if you need some guidance before you indulge in ALL of the pastries 🤭 Very welcoming, reasonable prices & can't wait to come back!

We stopped at Boulangerie Louis Marchand & Compagnie for a family breakfast & really enjoyed it. The croissants & chocolate pastries were fresh, flaky, & delicious. There is a spacious seating area inside, which makes it a comfortable spot to sit down, warm up, & enjoy your coffee & pastries. I'd happily come back the next time I'm in Quebec City.

Delicious bread & pastries. Our condo rental was nearby, & my son enjoyed the loaf of raisin bread so much he went back two additional mornings for more!

The place is nice & staff is kind. But I did not like the pastries. The croissant + almond croissant, taste weird & have an unusual texture/consistency
