The food was great & the service was fantastic. They had a few menu items that we ordered that were not available but they kindly gave us a free dessert as compensation. & we mentioned that we had a birthday & without us knowing they gave us a free cotton candy treat as well. I would definitely recommend!
Good food, massive portions. The service & ambience was great. Just be prepared for the $$$$ price tag.
The foie gras was the standout dish of the evening. Very creative dish with strong technical execution. Rich without being overwhelming because every accompaniment balanced it differently. The berry coulis added sweetness, the gingerbread crumble brought texture, the artichoke puree brought a creamy earthiness, & the brioche was perfect for soaking everything up. Easily the most memorable dish of the meal.
The meat platter was a lot more food than what I was expecting. Even for 4 people, it's a lot. Funny enough, even though the steak should be the highlight of coming to La Bete, I thought it was just OK. The wagyu bavette was delicious, the 20oz cowboy was pretty good, the NY strip was a little dry & nothing to write home about. I really liked the the sides (e.g. duck fat fries, roast brussel sprouts, asparagus with bearnaise). We were told the fries were'pretty small, like a regular serving of fries'. Visually they are but as they were extremely rich with a massive heaping of shredded cheese on top, if I were to order here again, I would have subbed one out with a side of foie gras instead.
The Raviolo Thermidor, while tasty, really isn't worth the $25. The citrus really overpowers all other flavors in this dish, they try to balance with heavy butter & cream flavors but it's not executed well. Very little lobster flavor or meat.
