Arrived with a party of 4 at 7pm. Restaurant was easily half empty. Hostess told us wait was 20 minutes due to reservations. Explanation seemed odd. We asked if we could just sit at the bar while we wait. Hostess was reluctant as she said we couldn't order food. We said no problem, we would only have drinks. Waited another 30 minutes. Hostess didn't say anything to us. Finally went up to ask when we might get seated. Restaurant had a LOT of open tables. She said it would be at least another 30 minutes or longer. I asked why since she had initially told us 20 minutes & now it would be over an hour. I asked if we could be seated at a table & wait to order food when they gave us the okay. The hostess didn't seem to open to that. It was strange. Either they didn't have food or the kitchen was very understaffed. Either way, the service & communication was terrible. We paid for our drinks & left for Boston Pizza. First time at La Cafe & very disappointed.
Nous avons eu un service exceptionnel de la charmante Laeticia au bar. La nourriture était bonne!! Elle m'a suggéré un drink à la fin & il était juste wow. Merci.

17/12/25 Je suis allée pour la première fois avec mon frère qui m'invitait pour ma fête, mon neveu & mes parents pour un souper en famille.
La bouffe était vraiment bonne, l'ambiance super, & on a eu un excellent service de plusieurs employés, malgré quelques petits pépins.
Celle qui nous a servi nos drinks est arrivée avec son plateau & a distribué les consommations & il ne restait plus que mon bloody Caesar & le plateau c'est renversé sur la table & sur moi.
Immédiatement plusieurs de ses collègues sont arrivés pour l'aider à nettoyer le tout & mon donné des serviettes pour m'essuyer. Bien sûr elle s'est excusé plusieurs fois. Heureusement je portais du noir 😅 & non une tenue blanche (mais je suis certaine que si j'avais été en blanc on aurait trouvé une façon de me dédommager parce que j'aurais été tachée de mon Caesar)
J'ai dis à la blague, je vais prendre un extra vodka dans celui que tu vas me rapporter en échange. Chose qu'elle a fait & c'était un des meilleurs Caesar que j'ai bu!
Elle est revenue me voir & m'a offert un shoot de mon choix aussi pour s'excuser. Je l'ai accepté & je lui ai dis surprend moi & elle est arrivée avec un shoot de tequila avec la lime & j'ai trouvé qu'elle avait bien choisi considérant que j'aime les Caesar, ça fit ensemble.
Ma mère avait commander un verre de vin rouge, les connaisseurs savent que le vin rouge se déguste température pièce & non refroidi. Ma mère était déçue car son vin était très froid. Nous en avons parlé au premier serveur que nous avons eu, car ensuite c'est une autre serveuse qui a prise nos commandes, il nous a expliqué que les vins blanc & rouge étaient conservés dans des celliers réfrigérés & que celui du rouge était trop froid, quelque chose du genre…
Par la suite, voyant que ma mère était déçu, il est allé chercher une autre bouteille non ouverte qui était entreposée & non réfrigérée & est venu changer le vin de ma mère.
Cependant La cage devrait revoir sa conservation du vin rouge car un vin rouge ça se sert pas froid.
Bref il est passé plusieurs employés de La Cage à notre table & ils ont tous bien pris soins de rendre notre expérience plaisante. Je recommande l'endroit sans hésiter & je vais y retourner aussi!
Le seul petit bémol, je trouve ça ben cool le popcorn à volonté mais les petits paniers en osier qui se lave pas & que tout l'monde mets ses mains là-dedans & popcorn à la bouche… 😬 un beau vecteur de microbes durant la saison de la grippe, rhume, covid etc….
Aussi considérant que plusieurs employés ont servi à notre table, je me demande à ce moment là si la toute dernière serveuse partage le pourboire avec les autres?
Beware - the service here is subpar:
• Extremely slow so you order more drinks & rack up the bill.
• The waiter was virtually nowhere to be found except for when he wanted us to order more.
• When the waiter picked up my entree plate, my fork & knife fell into my lap & onto the floor. He said a passing'sorry' rather than apologizing & then didn't bother to get me replacement utensils for my meal; I had to ask another worker for them when my meal came.
• One of the people at our table was served some time later; when his pizza finally came, it was at least 2 minutes undercooked. The crust was soft instead of crispy, the bagged cheese was partially melted, & he picked off the bacon because it was so raw.
• Multiple times, various people from the kitchen came to our table (& others around us) & interrupted us with the wrong drink & food orders.
Food is mediocre at best - this franchise chases trends rather than just making good food.
Ambience is the only reason to come here IMO. Their patio is good, but there are a lot of bugs.
My suggestion? Just go to Archibald down the street. You'll probably even save some money, too.
First time in Quebec City. Had just got in from Montreal. We were late & not many restaurants open. I was very happy to find this one open. We had dinner there on 27 th May 2024. we were greeted in a very friendly way. We had cauliflower bites, tofu poke bowl, a bowl with chicken , carrot cake & some drinks. Not many vegetarian options but our server was amazing. She tried to accommodate me & ensure I got substitutes. The kitchen did forget to add my sauce in the bowl, & I had to ask for it. Our server , Melanie, checked on us several times, always friendly, asked if we wanted a refill of popcorn & drinks. Her friendly nature & willingness to help us make the right choices really stood out. Also a big plus that she spoke English. She is a keeper , & if I was her supervisor, I would promote her. She is a true asset for the business. Thank you La Cage, I will be back .
Toujours un excellent service, l'ambiance est bonne ainsi que la nourriture. Pour ma part j'adore aller à la cage de temps à autres avec des amis que ce sois pour regarder un match de hockey ou simplement pour profiter de la sortie entre amis! L'ambiance & la nourriture ainsi que les drinks étais toujours aussi bon mais le services as été quelques peut lent, somme toute l'expérience reste positive!
