What a gem of a spot! Nestled inside the fabulous Monsieur Jean Hotel, Le Bijou offers incredible cocktails & lite bites, as well as a very impressive breakfast spread for hotel guests. Bar service was warm & welcoming & every drink we tried during our week there was so good! The live music on Thursdays & Sundays was a nice touch. Highly recommend!
My fiancé & I were on our way to our favorite cocktail bar when we stumbled upon this place & thought we might have found our new neighborhood spot. The space is beautiful with a great ambiance. We were greeted warmly with a big smile & seated at a cozy table for two.
Unfortunately, the experience quickly shifted when our server arrived. He was a large man who leaned over me from behind, completely in my space, which felt intimidating & uncomfortable. He seemed impatient, halfway through our order he walked away, & we had to call him back to finish. When we did, his dismissive'yea yea' made us feel rushed & unwelcome.
The cocktails themselves were excellent. Both delicious & beautifully presented. We had also ordered nuts to go with our drinks, but when my fiancé asked about them, the server gave him a disgusted look, raised his voice as he walked away & replied,'yeaaaaaaa I only have a pair of hands.' I was shocked. His attitude was jarring & completely out of place for such an elegant bar. Not long after, we watched him raise his voice at two elderly women sitting nearby, who looked just as confused & uncomfortable as we felt.
We decided to finish our drinks, pay the bill, & leave (we still tipped, knowing the rest of the staff, who were kind & professional, shouldn't be penalized). It's truly disappointing, because this could have easily become a new favorite of ours. Sadly, because of the service we experienced, we won't be returning.
We enjoyed our experience at Le Bijou. We presented the diamond we found in our room in exchange for the tapas. The tapas included 2 tiny portions of orzo as well as 2 peppers drizzled with sauce/vinaigrette. I ordered a bloody Caesar but when I checked the bill, it showed that I had received the house special bloody Caesar, which is not what I had requested. We also ordered the truffle fries. The sauces were put on the side to accomodate my husband's aversion to garlic. There was live jazz music but the musicians took an extended break of 25 minutes, when musicians should only take a 15 minute break in order to maintain the interest of the audience. Overall, the experience was good; not excellent because the food & drinks were overpriced even though taking into consideration that the food price is compensating for the musicians. But the prices are fixed & the same for times when there are no musicians...

This trendy spot near Rue St Jean was a great place to start our visit to Quebec City. We had a group of 8 & were tired from our travels but excited to be together & enjoy the restaurant. We were seated near the window overlooking busy Rue Pierre-Olivier-Chauveau, giving us a prime view of the bustling intersection.
Our drink order took a bit to arrive, but we had to wait much longer for our food. We were assured a few times that it would arrive soon, but the 45+ minute delay was unwelcome. When nourishment arrived, we were pleased to devour the tasty plates.
