Nous étions 4 & très excités d'aller vivre l'expérience du Continental. Malheureusement, cela ne s'est pas déroulé comme imaginé.
Dans ce type d'établissement, on s'attend à un sans-faute. Leur réputation & leur prix l'indiquent bien.
Pour commencer, on nous a assis dans une salle à l'étage, à côté d'un groupe installé dos à dos avec nous. Nos chaises se cognaient constamment. Les couverts étaient éparpillés sur la table & j'ai dû moi-même les placer devant moi.
Au moment de la commande, j'ai demandé au serveur si le carpaccio était bon. Il m'a répondu : « Si tu aimes la viande crue, tu devrais aimer... » Bref.
Nous étions ensuite indécis quant aux plats & nous avons demandé s'il était possible de commander les entrées maintenant & les plats un peu plus tard. Le serveur nous a dit qu'il fallait tout commander d'un coup, sinon la cuisine le chicanerait. Nous avons donc tout commandé quelques minutes plus tard.
La salade César était excellente, le plat de crabe était correct, mais nous n'avons jamais reçu le carpaccio.
Lorsque j'ai signalé au serveur que nous n'avions pas reçu le carpaccio, il venait tout juste de commencer la cuisson des steaks pour le plat principal. Il nous a dit : « Oups, j'ai oublié. Le voulez-vous quand même? »
Comme les cuissons étaient déjà commencées, nous ne voulions pas retarder le service & risquer que nos plats soient moins bons. Nous avons donc refusé.
Ensuite, mon steak, l'entrecôte, était raide & la sauce pas assez réduite, donc sans goût. Le filet en boîte, lui, c'était l'inverse : la sauce était tellement réduite qu'il y en avait à peine pour recouvrir la moitié du steak.
Pour le dessert, les crêpes flambées à l'érable étaient incroyables. Je les recommande à tout le monde.
Pour finir, le serveur a oublié de commander le café & un aide-serveur a ramassé d'un coup trois de nos verres encore pleins de cognac, de vin & d'eau. Un autre serveur lui a fait réaliser son erreur en lui criant après.

Great dining experience where excellence is of the utmost importance. This was a special day & the restaurant team has delivered an unbelievable experience. The food was exquisite. The manager's seafood special was an excellent choice for us. Every seafood of this master piece was worthy of the 5 star 🌟

APPETIZERS- Escargots were served in shell so a little difficult to extract. Pieces of lobster in lobster bisque overcooked. Foie gras was good.
MAIN - Veal sweetbreads was excellent DESSERT - Crepe Suzette was very good
We had a magnificent dinner experience at the Continental. I had Dover sole & it was delectable! The highlight was the cherries jubilee dessert that was prepared at our table.
This is the kind of place I save for special occasions. The service was outstanding-friendly, professional, & attentive. I loved that they cooked the steak right at our table, which made the experience even more memorable. The food & desserts were both delicious. A friend recommended this place, & it definitely lived up to the hype!
This was the best meal of all the great ones that we had this week; I will recommend La Continental to anyone that I know visiting Quebec City; the service & food was excellent; we shared a local cheese plate to start; Rose had giant scallops & I had veal medallions & both were magnifique; the chocolate mousse & Black Forest cake that we had for dessert were great finishes to a memorable meal; well done by everyone on staff
We chose the Continental to celebrate our mutual birthdays, & we were seeking not just a great meal but an'Experience' & we were not disappointed. Denis made the meal great. We loved the Caesar Salad being made at the table, & it was delicious, & the Cherries Jubilee for dessert topped it all off. We would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great treat & experience in dining.
We had a great evening here! Booked this restaurant months in advance as it was one we definitely wanted to try, however, while it was steady there probably was some walk up availability (around 6pm) but it was full by the time we left. The food was delish & the atmosphere is not stuffy. Went with our 8 year old daughter who is a picky eater. While they don't have a kids menu they are able to do either penne or spaghetti with tomato, rose, alfredo, or butter for kids. The servers were all very accommodating & there were plenty of other families there with babies & young children. While we dressed nice, & the waiters are in tuxes, people were dressed in varying degrees of outfits. Definitely recommend getting dessert!
We have visited the restaurant in past years, & were left underwhelmed this time. The service was courteous & friendly, but we were disappointed with the low flames, & the presentation of our dishes were lacking, especially our two flambée desserts. The steak & duck were tasty, but be ready for heavy use of butter. Our favorite Alaska bomb dessert was not on the menu. It's just a shame that the menu is static & there's no attempt to be creative like so many restaurants in the city. We are considering not returning in our upcoming visits.
Every visit to Le Continental is special & this experience was another. Starting off with valet parking from Jeff-who remarkably remembered us-set a wonderful tone for the evening.
Our server, Guy, took excellent care of us throughout the night. His attention to every detail & humor is special. The food was nothing short of outstanding. The oysters on the half shell were incredibly fresh, & watching the lobster flambé being prepared tableside was an absolute highlight. To top it all off, the Brazilian coffees for dessert were spectacular. Amazing food, stellar service, & a beautiful atmosphere. Highly recommended to everyone!
