Romantic place to satisfy your french-style steak cravings in the old city. Service was very friendly & we never felt rushed throughout our dinner. We had a window seat with a smaller round table which was a bit tight, but the ledge made it work.
The gravy for the l'entrecôte poutine was really delicious, better than the l'entrecôte sauce. Their bread was also delicious but the packaged whipped butter didn't fit the rest of the restaurant aesthetic...
Read a review that raved about the salmon so we came & tried it. It was so good we came back the next evening. My wife had the confit de canard & that was excellent too. The staff were friendly & attentive. Pity we're not in Quebec longer!
Had the l'assiette gourmand there. The dish contains three kinds of very traditional food preparations from France, namely the salmon rillettes, the chicken liver mousse, & the terrine du chef with an assortment of fruits & pickled veggies as garnish. The taste was a little bland but the texture was perfect as well as the freshness which is more important than anything else for these dishes.
The restaurant does have a pretty extensive wine list, but the beer menu is understandably short & dominated by global brands available anywhere. But there is a local Montréal beer on tap which was pretty good.
Service was quick & friendly. All in all, this is a pretty good restaurant in a touristy spot.

We ordered the entrecôte express du midi menu. The steak & fries were impeccable. The steak came with a light mustardy sauce. I'm not a sauce lover & certainly not when poured over my steak when I do not expect that. But to my surprise, the sauce was fantastic. My complements to the chef. Great value also, steak $19 & wine $7. Nice place, great, friendly service.
We are visiting from Toronto, & tonight was our last night in beautiful Quebec city. We've tried different restaurants & they were all great. Tonight our dining experience was at a different level. We booked at L'entrecote Saint Jean. The French nostalgie songs were playing as we walked in. The friendly staff, the ambience so warm, & welcoming.
Food arrived, our steaks cooked to perfection. The service was just great. Our host was amazing! It was the'creme de la creme' of all the places we went to.
I will revisit next time I'm in Quebec City. By far the best We've had!

As expected, the food was so delicious!!! Our steaks were so perfectly cooked!

This has become our tradition. It's a must have when we visit.
Yesterday, I went to dine at this restaurant. I'll begin with the best which would be the profiterole ice cream. Absolutely delicious & would recommend to come for the dessert. On the other hand, I was not content about the restaurant service. While the food is a fair price, I had an issue with the hostess. I came with a group of tourists & she became overwhelmed with seating & organizing the guests. Likewise, service was lacklustre because I felt the wait time between the dishes was quite large. In addition, I ordered the steak & chicken. My dish felt warm & the chicken was quite dry even with the sauce. I was disappointed because my food was not warm enough. While the steak frites had a very dry steak, the fries were poorly cut & tasted like pre cooked leftovers. While a waitress did hear my feedback I mentioned the waiters & waitresses were very busy so I did not request for new plates. No one came to ask us or check on us where I believed the restaurant does not care about customer feedback nor quality assurance.
I also wanted to try to write this in French if the staff had trouble understanding.

Hier, j'ai mangé au restaurant. Je crois que le meilleur plat est le dessert. Les profiteroles glacées étaient délicieuses. Je recommande vivement que les clients commandent les profiteroles pour déguster, & le menu à prix fixe. En revanche, je n'étais pas contente du service au restaurant. Avant de manger, l'hôtesse avait organisé des places assises, après elle était submergée. De même, le service était médiocre à cause de longs temps d'attente entre chaque plat. En plus, j'ai commandé du poulet & du steak. Mon plat de poulet était trop sec, même si je l'ai mange avec de la sauce au vin. Également, j'ai trouvé que la viande n'était pas assez chaude. Le steak était sec & les frites étaient coupées irrégulièrement & goûtaient comme des restes précuits. Pendant que je mangeais le repas, une serveuse m'a demandé des commentaires.Je lui en ai dit que les serveurs étaient très occupés, alors je n'ai pas demandé de nouveaux plats. Ne personne surveillait le dîner & ne faisait pas attention aux clients. J'ai cru que le restaurant ne fait pas attention aux commentaires des clients ni à l'assurance qualité.
Food is delicious. Steak is cooked to perfection. We went here twice in three days & had the steak dinner that they are famous for - includes soup, salad, steak & homemade French fries, protiferoles with chocolate sauce & coffee. I would recommend a reservation otherwise you may have to wait quite a while.
It was a basement with no windows were the groups are feeling treated like second category tourist. Keep in mind that we are also paying... maybe less but is not our business. So, next time I'll ask if they are going to have a better spot, otherwise I'll pass. Friendly constructive comment.
