Despite being walk-ins, the host found us a table right away, even with our toddler in tow. The staff was exceptionally kind, making us feel welcome & comfortable. Our server, Rodolfo, was outstanding—he provided impeccable service, balancing efficiency with genuine warmth.
As for the food—perfection! ? Their signature steak with legendary sauce is what makes this place iconic, & the Table d’Hôte is not just affordable but absolutely divine. Every bite was a taste of authentic French bistro excellence, & it's clear why this restaurant stays so busy!

I spent the best night of my life at l'entrecôte saint-jean. Laura, Marvin & Eve were very nice & serviable, they made the evening very joyful & lovable. I loved the staff, the drinks, & the food, everything was very demure & mindful. 100% recommend, best place in town!!!
Une expérience exceptionnelle chez Entrecôte Saint-Jean a tout coups ! L'excellence de la cuisson de la viande est tout simplement rare de nos jours, & cet établissement l'a parfaitement maîtrisée. Chaque bouchée de l'entrecôte était tendre, juteuse & cuite à la perfection, exactement comme demandée. Le service est irréprochable, avec une attention minutieuse aux détails qui rend l'expérience encore plus agréable. Les serveurs & maître d'hôtel sont accueillants, professionnels, & toujours disponibles sans être envahissants. C'est un endroit où l'on sent que l'on est valorisé en tant que client. Une adresse à recommander vivement à tous les amateurs de steak frites & de service de qualité. It was my last night in Québec City & I was looking for a good steak. Google directed me to this wonderful restaurant, & it did not disappoint! It was quite crowded (6 PM), & I was seated at the bar. The bartender did a fantastic job taking my order, serving up a good drink & making sure all my needs were met even though he was super busy. The food came out in a timely manner, & I was very satisfied. The chocolate profiteroles were my favorite, along with a good cup of coffee. The prices were very reasonable & I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
Le service était excellent, le serveur très sympathique & serviable. Une équipe rapide, polie & accueillante, rien à redire sur ce point. J'ai cependant été un peu déçu par l'entrecôte... Elle était bonne, mais comme vous pouvez le voir sur les photos, des morceaux brûlés étaient présents sur les deux faces, ce qui laisse à penser que les poêles devraient être nettoyées plus régulièrement durant le service. (Conseil) En revanche, les côtes levées étaient vraiment exceptionnelles, & la sauce de l'entrecôte était un vrai délice. Les pommes de terre frites étaient également délicieuses. Je recommande les côtes levées sans hésitation. J'ai aussi pris un cocktail au litchi, qui était délicieux, bien que je trouve que la quantité était un peu faible pour le prix. Cependant, le goût était au rendez-vous, donc cela est pardonné. L'ambiance est top &, comme je l'ai déjà mentionné, le service est excellent. Je recommande donc cet endroit !
We had a delicious meal here recommended by our tour guide earlier in the day. The steak was flavorful & tender, & the fries crisp. Our waitress was attentive. We recommend getting reservations here early in the day. We waited until the afternoon & the first available was 8:15pm. This is late for us. However, when we showed up earlier, the maitre'd found us seats earlier, which we appreciated very much!
The food was excellent & delicious. Service was very good. The waiters were very attentive. If you arrive before 7 pm you might get a place without reservation but I would recommend a reservation if you want to eat hear. We shared a dessert & it was delicious & more than enough for us.
