On the border of Mont Calm, my husband & I came here based on the many glowing online reviews & locally sourced cuisine. This ended up being our most favorite meal during our entire trip to QC! Inside was a "locals" atmosphere, but we didn't feel like outsiders in any way. Warm & cozy, we got to check out the many, many preserved & pickled ingredients that they use in some of their cooking that were on display. Super impressive! Sam (who I think maybe was the owner?) took our order & was the most kind & genuine person. He asked us questions about where we were from & got to know us. We had delicious beer & wine that he suggested based on our likes, & we ordered several of the small plates to share. The PEI oysters were the best oysters we've ever had! We had an amazing scallop dish & incredible charcuterie. Sam shared where the ingredients were sourced from, so we got to learn about the food along the way. Overall we had such a nice, relaxed time having dinner here & we will definitely be back any time we're visiting QC. Thank you, Sam!Voir plus
Very welcoming & kind server (don't remember her name). The cod dish & mushroom dish were delectable. The squash purée was a bit too sweet for my liking. Fantastic wine selection. Would certainly come back to try more dishes.
If you love creativity & connection with food & wine then check out this group of young hip food lovers. They have great ideas & taste. Wines were different & delicious.
A neat little place with outstanding food. The type of place you want to return to, time after time. An obvious choice if you are in Quebec. Very knowledgeable staff that can really help you with wine pairings with your food.Voir plus
One of the best meals I've ever had. Super local, fresh & creative. Each dish is so different & delicious, & the service is outstanding. Excellent selection of wines as well. The type of place where you go, & just eat & drink whatever they wanted to cook that night & you'll be happy.Voir plus
Dinner for four was spectacular. The food was prepared with great care & creativity. We ordered & shared every dish on the menu & not a single one disappointed. Our server, who was very personable & helpful, suggested a local Quebec wine. We were a bit skeptical, but have to admit that the wine paired perfectly with the food. All in all, a very enjoyable family style evening of great food, with old friends, in a lively family style atmosphere. I highly recommend Sardines to any foodie visiting Quebec City.Voir plus

Absolutely wonderful. Every dish is spectacular. & the wine selection is supe
This restaurant is truly amazing! You got a really good selection of wine & beer. To start, you get to pick between bourgots, oysters or sardines. They have some really tasty sardines (special agreements between Portugal & Gaspésie, wow!). On top of that, before a certain time (I think 6:30pm), oysters are half price (yummy!). Then, for the main course, just take everything if you're a group of 4, you won't regret it (we were 8 & we got the full menu twice, totally worth it!). The menu is very diversified & prices are really good for quantity & quality. Cool ambiance, love the small room, it feels super friendly & their service is impeccable. Merci encore!Voir plus
We had such an amazing dinner at Sardines with our two kids; the staff were so helpful & hospitable, helping us with food & wine pairings. We had a great first night in Quebec City & it was all thanks to Sardines. Merci encore!
If you love good food, wine, cider or beer, do not miss a visit to Sardines. We had exquisite dishes & drinks, in a great environment with very much a local clientele. There is a collection of tastes you will not find elsewhere & I could not recommend Sardines more highly.
Absolute perfection. Food, wine & service all 10/10. Total gem of a restaurant - will be coming back up from NYC for round two ASAP
Loved the servers (thanks Sam!), loved the vibe & wine & food. The only suggestion is to shuck the oysters with a tad more care. They had a lot of shells in them. I shuck oysters a lot & the key is using a ton of clean towels to clean the knife off between each oyster.
Thanks!! I'll be back.
What a wonderfully perfect meal!! One of the owners kindly guided us through the menu & helped us choose an amazing meal from their well crafted, nightly selected offerings that are not as straight forward as the seem (such creativity!). The wines offered pair perfectly with the plates & our dessert of the trio of corn ice cream, the financier & a perfectly matched small pour wine was the best flavor combination I have ever had. It was our last night in Quebec City after having been here for a month. What a fabulous note to go out on. A truly wonderful night...I cannot recommend this adorable place enough
We enjoyed a wonderful evening with excellent food & wine. Sam was friendly & very helpful. Can't wait to return!
French being our second language, I'm compelled to write this brief review in English just to communicate how incredible our experience at Sardines was this past Friday. After being so impressed with their sister restaurant Buvette Scott a couple of days prior we were pleasantly surprised to be greeted, once again, by the co-owner Dave the moment we walked in the door. It felt like being greeted by your best friend who invited you over to their place for dinner. Rarely have I met someone who so truly encompasses what it means to be hospitable. The enthusiasm with which he spoke of the chefs dishes, the excitement he exuded when given the opportunity to pair for us his favourite beer & wine, it was always obvious how much enjoyment he got from sharing with us what he loves & we are truly grateful to have been his guests. Indeed, a world class experience we will be talking about for years to come. Thank you Dave & Alex for the outstanding hospitality.
Everything about our dinner experience at Sardines was phenomenal. Pierre-Luc our host & waiter was attentive, accommodating & super friendly towards our family of 4. The beer/wine list was excellent & the menu was succulent. A little off the beaten path but superior to anything in the more touristy area. Worth the extra 15-20 minute walk outside the old city. Highly recommend for both a date night or a family outing. Our new "coup de coeur" in Quebec city!
Food, wine & service was amazing. Great atmosphere - perfect for a date night!
