About

THE TRADITION OF TASTE

Inspired by the roots of Italian cuisine, we have thought of everything to make your meal as delicious as it could possibly be. We serve fresh hand-made pasta, high-quality locally-sourced meat and first-class risotto that is quite simply divine. Allow us to tempt you with our sublime tartars and our oven-baked pizzas made with first-class Italian products.

TERRAZZA…WOW !

With its view of the sky over Old Quebec City, Bello’s terrace, once finished, will offer a totally unique configuration. With the same number of seats as the restaurant’s interior, the ground floor with its glass covering will now be capped with a second-floor patio open to the fresh air. There you can enjoy the warmth of the sun’s rays and beautiful summer evenings accompanied by a delicious meal.

THE PRIVATE DINING ROOM

The best-kept secret at Bello is undoubtedly our beautiful private dining room. It offers all the intimacy and comfort you need to take the time to examine our wine cellar through its glass front. This room, which can accommodate up to 16 persons, also offers cutting-edge technology with Wi-Fi, Internet access and a top-quality audio system. Our private dining room will definitely become the location of choice for your business meetings.

Review Summary

Bello Ristorante consistently impresses guests with its vibrant atmosphere and authentic Italian cuisine. Many patrons highlight the exceptional quality of dishes like the fresh pasta, risottos, and wood-fired pizzas, often noting the convenience of half-portion options. The service is frequently described as attentive, professional, and welcoming, with the staff often going above and beyond to personalize the dining experience for celebrations. While the restaurant can become quite busy and occasionally warm, the lively ambiance and overall culinary standards make it a highly recommended destination for anyone visiting Old Quebec.

Had lunch with the family august 17th, 2019. Bello Ristorante has mediocre food with gourmet prices, l am ltalian & after a week of poutine & chicken touring the "belle provence" it was time for some soul food & rest. bello was NOT the place to go. The risotto fungi was absolute crap, no flavour hardly any cheese & low quality cheese at best. The prosciutto pizza was ok tasting but the crust was too thick, definitely not Italian style. The pasta was good but again at $178 for lunch it should have been fantastic. The service was ok, but not great, food took too long to prepare, wait staff did not understand that napkins are a requirement, & when someone orders pasta, parmigiana/reggiano cheese is mandatory. I felt sorry for the wait staff & over tipped them even though I felt cheated. It is always the fault of management when your product fails to impress is my motto. I can't believe all the positive reviews but due have to mention that I don't drink so perhaps after a few bottles of chianti anyfood tastes good.

This restaurant has mediocre service & food for the price, The wine list is very good & the decor is nice. I had the cod entree & it was just ok, compared to other cod I have had. The other 3 diners in my party had pasta & they said their meals were just ok too. This is a middle of the road restaurant with a fine dining price tag. I would not go back.

Beautiful experience-from atmosphere to great food & very good service. Loved sitting on Terrance. Had Parmesan fondue for app- a must have! Salad salad for 2 was excellent & plenty for 3 or even 4 to share. Pasta is homemade & portions generous. One of our favorite restaurants in Quebec City. Reservation needed!

Our second visit was somewhat disappointing. Being of Italian descent, the pasta Bolognese is a complete MIS-NOMER ... it was NOT a Bolognese sauce at all [a Bolognese sauce is comprised of chopped meat (a combination of beef, veal, pork) with a small amount of finely chopped carrot & other seasonings in a tomato base] ... what was served was spaghetti & very hard meat balls in a not-so-good tomato sauce! The quality of the beef carpaccio was excellent (as it was the 1st time) BUT too much stuff (including vinegar doused chopped mushrooms) is served over it ... it should be a much more delicate dish [beef carpaccio on the plate (no greens under it) decorated with a small amount of finely shaved (not grated) parmesan or Romano cheese; some watercress (undressed) in center; extra-virgin olive oil or truffle oil over top ... & THAT'S IT!] With two tables (later 3) dining at an off-hour in the afternoon service should have been attentive to a fault ... but it was more like we were intruding. Sorry to say that Bello will not be on my list of restaurants to visit when next I travel to Quebec City. I don't like writing reviews like this but I'm hoping the chef & the management will read it.

We visited Tuesday the 18th of September & Sunday the 23rd. Bello provides a great experience along with great food. The servers work very well together without being overbearing.

Some of the Tuesday highlights: Arancini appetizer excellent, smoked salmon excellent (unless you're one who prefers a more "cooked" fish). Veal Scallopini with mushrooms was the best scallopini I've ever had & their risotto with shrimp was excellent. Tiramisu dessert was presented imaginatively in a small canning jar & just like the entrees was excellent.

Sunday's meal was every bit as good. Fried calamari appetizer was a very generous portion presented with a nice remoulade sauce. Ceasar salad for two was very nicely presented. We each did 1/2 orders of pasta (so glad they have the 1/2 option). The lobster ravioli was incredible & the seafood linguini was great.

Service was perfectly paced, that very fine balance between "no rushing" & no waiting for what comes next. If your server becomes involved with a larger table there's another who will stop by to keep everything on track.

It's hard to say if we were more impressed by the food or by the teamwork & professionalism.

Bello is on St Louis, a few blocks away from the crowded St Jean street. It's well worth making a reservation & doing the uphill walk from St Jean street.

Only one small quibble: be aware that many restaurants suggest a tip on the subtotal before taxes, Bello's suggested amounts are based on the total with taxes. Easy enough for a decision if you look at the amounts.

Best meal the four of us had in a long time. Pasta was prepared extremely well. Our waiter was able to explain how each of our selection was prepared, what ingredients it contained. Very impressive.

We sat at the bar & enjoyed great food & our service was excellent. We shared the caesar for two (big enough for 4!) & I had the veal with mushroom & my wife had pasta with truffle & mushroom. My dish was so good my wife wants to back tomorrow & have it for lunch. Go here!

Service- 10/10. Friendly & very very fast. Always on top of everything wether it was getting more water or when our food came
Food- 10/10. Honestly, can't even remember the last time I had pasta that good (we both got the same pasta dish , it has clams in it but can't remember for the life of me), tasted very fresh & oh man , I dreamt about it all night.
We ended it with tiramisu, again. It was light & creamy... & delicious!

If you're going to Old Quebec, this is definitely a go to place!

Excellent service, very good food & very nice atmosphere. My wife & I had our anniversary dinner here & we thoroughly enjoyed it. The seafood pasta was one of the best pasta dishes I had in a long time Would highly recommend.
