For your greatest pleasure, chef Stéphane Roth presents a menu of the “Ferme à la Table” trend. With his unique cooking style, he puts the spotlight as much on meat and fish as on vegetables, always with a view to eco-responsible cuisine. Hortus is the proud owner of two green rooftop gardens located in the heart of Vieux-Québec, right above you! Our crops are quintessential part of your meal.

Our gardens will provide some of the fruits and vegetables used in our recipes. Production being limited due to space constraint, we work closely with Quebec farmers who grow organic produce.
We also own multiple beehives placed onto large strawberry fields at l’ole-d’orleans, home of our Oh Bio partner. Tree beehives are located on the rooftop of Hotel du Vieux Quebec and greatly improve the pollination of our gardens.
The importance of bees to biodiversity
Besides providing their beloved honey, bees are a fondamental part of every aspect linked to the ecosystem. Bees are the most important pollinators, close to 80%, therefore essential to flowering plants reproduction. They are also vital through food chain, considering that 35% of fruits and vegetables depend on pollination by insects

Magnifique expérience culinaire. Tout était frais, goûteux, un brunch à refaire qui donne un nouveau souffle au Vieux Québec, trop souvent abonné aux restaurants très moyens et à fort prix. Ici, c'est le contraire. Généreux et abordable. Je recommande sans hésiter.

Some of the best food we had while visiting Quebec. Try the seafood stew, it does not disappoint.
Excellent food, server was kind and attentive. We just felt a bit pushed to eat fast and leave, as the waiter came around several times asking us "Are you finished?" even though it was obvious we were still eating, We had a reservation for 8pm, so there would not have been another service after us, which is why I felt a bit bothered by this.

Souper d'anniversaire, habitués aux bonnes tables. Mon mari et moi essayons Hortus. Que dire de notre expérience désagréable…le service ultra expéditif (comme une attrape à touriste !). L cuisson de nos filets mignons étaient complètement manquée. Personne ne s'est excusé ou a tenté de rattraper le service suite à ces fautes de débutant ( demandés Mes-Saig, arrivés Bien cuits! Littéralement gris dans le milieu. Raide comme de la semelle de botte). Gens de qc, restez loins de ce resto .

Good food! Very fresh and nice portion and nice ambiance. We made reservation so didn't have to wait. 4 out of 5 because owner should hire more waiters as they were super busy on a Saturday night.
