Notre Histoire

excellent service(56) plats(54) gluten(50) brunch(41) bon service(36) bistro(31) recommend(29) tartare(29) sans gluten(28) qualité(28)It is a lovely restaurant with very friendly people working there. The cheese plate was excellent, onion soup was great except the bread inside is too thick, after you let it sit for a bit the bread soak all the soup in, what you can taste is a soaked up bread, not very good. The Vegetable stir-fry was a big disappointment, the original vegetables has it's own taste, instead the dish is over salted, all you can taste is salt & nothing.
We ate several times at Bistro Hortus while visiting Quebec City.
Smoked ,tender ,moist chicken had just the right amount of smokey flavour ; a wonderful dish accompanied by perfect frites.
Rabbit tenderloin in a red wine sauce with perfectly cooked vegetables & roasted & then smashed potatoes was outstanding.
The staff here are professional & very helpful.
The restaurant is lovely.
We look forward to returning.
(This is the review I used for a gluten free app that had originally recommended your restaurant. I also put the review on yelp. You are doing a wonderful job - thank you)
Amazing! The food was delicious & creative. There were many gluten free choices - all marked clearly on the menu. There were even 4 dessert choices!
I am known for the salads I make. I had the Chevrotiere Salad which was incredible - full of veggies, cheese & a delicious salad dressing. It was topped with gluten free cranberry bread & goat cheese. My husband, who is not gluten free, had the Vegetable Pot Au Feu, which is gluten free, & loved it.
The restaurant is beautiful & very cool. The waitstaff was fun & wonderful. They use locally sourced organic food.
We are going back to the Hortus Bistro before we leave Quebec. I wish we had one of these restaurants near me 😊
the food was deliciuos, the service was excellent & best of all I felt confident that the food was gluten free with no cross contact & my dining partners did not have to give up tasty food. I enjoyed all the choices I had.
Fantastic food & service, I highly recommend!!
Great food & the service was particularly amazing. They were very busy but it is surprisingly quiet, so excellent for conversation.Voir plus
Wonderful ambience. Delicious food made of locally grown ingredients in a beautiful presentation. Our waitress was very attentive, did a great job of explaining the menu & helped us choose an appropriate wine to go with our meal. Loved the deer carpaccio & walleye tartare.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bistro Hortus, & I must say that it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the warm & inviting atmosphere of the restaurant. The ambiance was cozy & charming, setting the perfect tone for a delightful meal.
The food at Bistro Hortus was nothing short of amazing. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, & it was evident that the chefs took great care in selecting the finest ingredients. The menu offered a variety of options, & I was thrilled with the flavorful combinations presented in each course.
However, what truly elevated my dining experience was the impeccable service provided by Livia. She was not only attentive & friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menus, ingredients, & preparation methods. Her passion for the culinary arts shone through as she described each dish with enthusiasm, making it easy to make our selections.
But Livia's exceptional service didn't stop there. She went above & beyond to enhance our visit by taking the time to provide recommendations for places to visit & experience on the island of Île d'Orléans. Her insider tips added an extra layer of enjoyment to our trip, as we followed her suggestions the next day & fell in love with the island.
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend dining at Bistro Hortus. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere is charming, & the service, particularly from Livia, is outstanding. Whether you're a local or a visitor, this restaurant is a must-visit, & I guarantee that you'll leave with a memorable culinary experience.
