Our dinner at Café Buade was absolutely memorable - the food was top notch from start to finish. The French onion soup was rich & deeply flavorful, easily one of the best we've ever had. The beef was incredibly tender & juicy, melting in the mouth with every bite. My salmon was cooked perfectly & seasoned just right. To finish, the apple pie paired beautifully with vanilla ice cream, a well-balanced & comforting dessert. On top of the outstanding food, the service was amazing - attentive, friendly, & made our first night in Québec truly special.

Highly recommend their 24 hour beef bourguignon. Incredibly tender, the meat breaks apart easily & juicy. Definitely a must try!

Also had a tasty apple pie & pea soup. But, the beef stole the show!

Pleasantly surprised with Cafe Buade! This place is more than a 100 years old. Service was excellent, & the food was so good. I had the French Toast & it was delicious. Price is reasonable. We'll be back, this is a great restaurant.

Le service rattrape une nourriture décevante,
Je ne suis pas un gros mangeur mais la quantité servie pour les pâtes carbonara était ridicule. Les pâtes n'étaient pas assez cuites, & cela à pris 45 min pour arriver..
Les pâtes à la morue étaient correctes, la sauce était bonne mais le poisson de qualité très moyenne. Quantité de pâtes très réduite aussi, mais au moins il y avait des légumes...
Heureusement le service est +++, on nous a offert un super bon dessert en compensation.
Je recommanderai plus cet endroit pour un déjeuner le matin, ou une boisson chaude avec une bonne pâtisserie, que pour un repas à midi (du moins les pâtes).

We went for our Christmas dinner & thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience! All the staff were very friendly & the food was magnificent! For an appetizer, we had the tomato soup & the French onion soup; both were very tasty. We had the beef bourguignon & it melted in our mouths! Would definitely return!

Attended this restaurant on Christmas day 2025 as a party of 7 people. We had to sit at 2 separate tables, not the end of the world as the flow of customers was steady. The tables & the reataurant appeared clean & there was plenty of staff buzzing about. The food options looked appetizing & 2 of our party had gluten restrictions. The atmosphere was very much that of a diner. They had a dedicated bartender who mixed tasty beverages.
The let downs had to do with food service & the table service. The orders were taken at the first table & the staff set to work. Eventually, the table staff remembered the second table & took only food orders & neglected beverages. When the food arrived, table one tasty but lukewarm food. Table 2 was 25 minutes later as table 1 was headed for after dinner coffee. The appetizer arrived at the same time as the main course after table 1 reminded staff that table 2 was still waiting for food. Music was too loud so we had to speak loudly across the table & across the aisle.
I'm sure hopeful that they have better days. Today was lacklustre.
