About

Beautiful setting; friendly & knowledgeable servers (fluent French & English speakers); delicious food-healthy, clean, fresh ingredients. The turbot (Bouillon Rhubarbe) was incredible as was the Tomato starter (L'Attaque des Tomates Tueuses). We finished with the Anna dessert, a delight. Nice cocktail & wine selections.

Our female server was the best; friendly, knowledgeable, the type of server you always want to have. The printemps cocktail was very good. The three beet & mozzarella salad, good but the buffalo mozzarella was too firm & not tasty. The blood sausage & shrimp entré was rich & very good. The spaghetti with morels & asparagus was delicious. The chocolate brownie dessert with sour berries very good.

Bonjour,

Nancy

Excellent meal for a special occasion or date night. It started well with PEI oysters with chokeberry granite & chokeberry vinegar mignonette. We had the cavatelli pasta with parsnip cremeux, garlic puree, parsnip chips, kohlrabi shavings, pickled cauliflower, & a killer spinach cream, a real knockout dish. Also had the black pudding with shrimp, spicy shrimp ravioli, grilled pepers, crab bisque, red pepper coulis, confit garlic puree, which was also excellent & interesting. We had two desserts, one was a dark chocolate cookie bar with sweet clover mousse, cocoa nibs, black cherry confit, cherry & sweet clover sorbet; the other was brioche French toast with fresh strawberries, strawberry gelee & puree, & toasted coconut sorbet, the former outshining the latter. Service was impeccable & professional; the ambiance warm, rustic, & welcoming. This warrants consideration on a short list for travelers or those wanting a fine meal.

Amazing food. Every course was out of this world, including the dessert. The staff kind & cheerful. I'm from Toronto & this is up there with some of the best restaurants in the country.

Our second night in Quebec City we had dinner Chez Rioux & Pettigrew. We both did the tasting menu which included an appetizer, main course & dessert. .For a 10 dollar charge my husband added a second appetizer. Every course was presented & explained to us which was delightful. The food was excellent as was the service !

Merci!

We have fairly extensive experience with this restaurant but this was our first visit since the COVID-19 pandemic. This time the food ranged from 3 to 4 regarding overall enjoyment, though the quality of ingredients was high. Some dishes were simply overdone - the asparagus entree had a fried soft-boiled egg & two different sauces for $25. The three asparagus spears were good quality, prepared well, but would have done fine on their own without the Hollandaise-like sauce, egg, etc. The arctic char preparation was just the opposite, rather underworked & boring with some purple carrots & a dollop of a sauce which added some interest. The pasta dish was tasty but very unusual, deviating far from its Italian roots & well into creative Quebec-inspired territory regarding incorporated flavors. The desserts were rather pedestrian. The ordered mixed drink was virtually undrinkable, the bottle of cidre recommended by our server was likewise not particularly enjoyable. The choice of wines by the glass was very limited. The bill was high yet the experience was variable as noted above, the most expensive dinner of our trip, but it ranked third out of four restaurant meals.
