Le 160, rue Saint-Paul s’est toujours avéré un lieu où les ingrédients et le service de qualité supérieurs font la loi. Fondé en 1860 par Narcisse Rioux, le magasin général Chez Rioux & Pettigrew fournissait aux restaurateurs, aux épiciers, aux hôpitaux et aux communautés religieuses une grande variété de produits locaux ou d’importation.

Barils de mélasse, poches de farine, sucre, gruau, fruits et légumes en conserves, épices, noix, raisins secs, chocolat, bonbons présentés sur des étalages… On y trouvait même de l’alcool jusqu’à la création de la Commission des liqueurs en 1921!

We sat at the bar & had the 4 course blind food tasting, it was amazing as was our bartender, Jaime. He was making some very unique cocktails & had great suggestions for wine pairings with our food.

The wine pairing & tasting menu we experienced was superb & the service was friendly & attentive. You can spend a considerable amount for ordinary fare in Quebec City. Whereas our meal here was extraordinary. Unusual flavours delicately balanced.

Delicious food & the wine pairing was amazing. The servers & staff were very good. I wish the courses were written down for the fixed price menu because the three of us heard there were 5 courses but it was really 4. Small issue! Enjoyed our evening very much!

This restaurant is fantastic & not to be missed. Everything was a surprise - particularly the preparation of food. The layering of flavors was superb & wine pairings were perfect. I will come back again & recommend to others.

We had a wonderful dinner there. Very impressed with the blind tasting menu. The wine pairing is well thought & go really well with the foods. The server was very attentive. We will definitely return.

We really enjoyed our dinner at Chez Rioux & Pettigrew. One of the best meals we have ever had & we've had a lot of great meals! (including several Michelin star restaurants) From the service to the atmosphere to the food, all exceptional. For me, the second course that was a mushroom ravioli had insane earthiness...one of the best dishes I can remember. Another highlight for me was the amuse bouche, a small pastry filled with a foie gras cream that was exceptional but here's the weird part....the pastry flavor reminded me of captain crunch & I freaking loved it! For my wife the highlight was the scallops which were cooked perfectly but what took it over the top was the wine pairing which we think (not the best memory) was Cuvee Comme from Chateau Haut Lavigne. An affordable bottle of wine, so delicious, & such a great pair for scallops. One of those finds that you know will become a staple at our house. This was a great meal & experience all around. We look forward to coming here again the next time we get a chance to visit Quebec City.

We had the Pettigrew tasting menu & wine pairing & sat at the bar. The food was fantastic, as was the service. Highly recommend. Be sure to block off some time though as it took awhile to make it through the four courses. The cocktails are also fantastic.
