Expensive mediocrity. Second time at R&P. First time was exceptional- sat at the bar, server was knowledgeable, humorous & had amazing pairing recommendations. This time: server was clueless, up charged us wine per glass, scallop main dish was middle of the road-fishy tasting & not amazing. Brioche fish toasts were creative but not tasty. Bread & foie gras were solid. If it wasn't for the martini with Quebecois gin, I would've been angry.

Absolutely the best meal we've had in a very long time. We enjoyed a special 5 course tasting menu with wine pairing & it didn't disappoint. Every aspect of our evening was perfect. Thank you 🙏 to everyone who works hard to make this restaurant run seamless & present perfectly. We'll be back.

What a wonderful time we had at Christmas dinner! The food & wine pairings were delightful. Our waiter was knowledgeable & fun, creating a festive atmosphere. The deer meat was delicious. & the restaurant was very romantic. We had a quiet table by a window. We will definitely go back!

This was our second visit to Chez Rioux & Pettigrew, & if anything it was even more enjoyable than the first time. The special holiday menu was superb, & the wine pairings were very well chosen. I particularly liked the smoked salmon & the venison.

The staff were very knowledgable, friendly, & attentive, & the space is nicely decorated & cozy, but not crowded.

Fabulous! We did the tasting menu, & one of us had cocktails & the other had the wine pairing. The food was beautifully presented & absolutely delicious. Favorite courses were perhaps the scallops & beef cheeks. Service was well paced & personable.

Thank you for a wonderful night out, with my colleague, on the night of the Jays/Dodgers final game-November 1/25...we were the last diners in the restaurant at 10pm on a Saturday night--so many people were in bars watching the World Series final game--so we had the place to ourselves at the end--amazing! Our waiter, Gregoire, was very attentive & the Chef's creations & presentations were superb. The atmosphere is completely charming & reminds me, at the entryway, of my French-Canadian grandmother's house, filled with vintage photos & comfy furnishings. As neighbours visiting from Ontario, we were self-conscious about our own French language skills, but felt very welcome here. Gregoire took us through the menu in detail (with an English version, of course-- & he demonstrated for us his love of local food, the marriage of flavours to expect in a dish & to describe the wine-pairing--with sincerity). We were not disappointed! The food is excellent here. To any anglophone tourists, please don't miss this place--it is very special & you will have a memorable dining experience here. We took an Uber from the ship. We easily & safely walked back to the ship. Next time we would walk both ways. Our server was Jade & she did a great job explaining the menu options. We weren't bold enough to try the chef's choice, 5 course offering, with wine pairings. The menu has an English version for those of us that don't read or speak French. We split the cheese tray as a starter. Very fresh strawberries & blueberries with different cheeses, with some very nice focaccia. The risotto dish & the haddock were both excellent. We were stuffed, so we passed on the wonderful desserts. The meal was very reasonably paced. We were quite early to fit that day's schedule & within an hour the place was full. Reservations encouraged. Prices are in Canadian on the menu & very reasonable.

This is a must stop while in Quebec City. We went for the tasting menu with wine pairings & it was incredible - a splurge but worth every penny. Each dish was better than the one before & the wine pairings were thoughtful & delicious. Service was also amazing - our server was very busy but he made an effort to still explain every pairing. 11/10!!!!

We traveled to Quebec City to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary. Our wonderful dinner at this restaurant was absolutely perfect! Juan, our server, explained all the options for dinner. We decided on the 4 course culinary experience & were so thrilled we did! We are not big drinkers & we were able to halve the amount of wine served per course ( 2 oz instead of 4oz), which worked very well for us . We could see that Juan, all the people that served each course are truly passionate about what they do . We enjoyed being surprised & savored every delicious bite. The wine pairings were spot on with each course. I hope we can return someday again . Our dinner at Chez Rioux & Pettigrew will always be one of the most beloved dining experiences we've ever had . This is a really excellent restaurant in a very unassuming building with a friendly, quirky & cozy decor. The picture of the interior of the restaurant was taken before the room filled up for the evening - this was a Monday night but the place was full by the time we left! We had the four course experience menu & shared the wine pairings between two of us. This was completely blind - no indications of what we would be eating (but with an opportunity to indicate what we wanted to rule out which, in our case, was nothing). We had a very memorable & enjoyable meal with really interesting wines that paired beautifully with each dish. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes really outstanding meals created by a gifted team & served by cheerful, knowledgeable, highly competent servers. We will remember the meal, the people & the place as a standard of excellence for a very long time.
