Exceptional experience! Coming from Montreal I often have high expectations when eating out. This checked off all the boxes! Tucked away in old Quebec, super cozy & quaint, we had a wonderful waitress accompanied by delicious culinary experience from start to finish. We had a hard time deciding what to eat but finally went with the tasting menu... & we were in no way disappointed. Unfortunately I couldn't do the wine pairing because I'm pregnant but I'm sure it would have been exceptional as well. Would highly recommend ❤️

Amazing restaurant! My fiancé & I were visiting Canada & visited Chez Rioux & Pettigrew. The host was so friendly & explained the menu to us after showing us to out seat, which was really cute by the window & even had blankets in case it was too cold. Our server was fantastic she was so friendly & helpful. We chose to do the restaurant experience with the surprise 4 course menu & it did but disappoint. Every single course we had was delicious (also they are very accommodating to any food intolerances or preferences) & every course was paired perfectly with a wine. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone & we will certainly be back on our next trip!!

Genuinely outstanding restaurant. We came here the evening that we got engaged, & we're very glad we did. The restaurant was generous & accommodating, our server Benoit was very helpful & knowledgeable, & the food was excellent. It is one of the few restaurants at this price point which is worth every dollar. Highly recommend!

Food is not bad but not great. Nice creativity, but too many sweet flavors, in my opinion. Should have had a cheese plate in the 6-course dinner, as it is a French classic.
Service is kind & rather attentive. Could be improved by respecting the usual order of service with elderly women first, & descending age order, followed by elderly men. It is typical for a classy service. It can be done even with a casual service style, which fits well to this restaurant. The ambience is really nice, very special. I like the cool look of this restaurant. We all had a nice evening with my mother. Reservation went well & was professional. Only learned that the menu was fixed price at the last minute, but it ended up being fine, although I think that the meal should have been a little better. We have good cuisine in Quebec.
Will recommend with the improvements suggested above. Thank you & keep going! Happy New Year.

Absolutely loved our dinner at Chez Rioux - our favorite meal in Quebec City. Cozy, warm, welcoming atmosphere. Lovely space - including walking through the kitchen (something I have never experienced before but an amazing & unique touch). We had the tasting menu, which was fabulous & absolutely worth it! Inventive & classic at the same time, incredibly delicious (my favorite part was a butternut squash gnocci!). Service was excellent (recommended a wonderful bottle of wine to go with the meal as well as provided warm & welcoming service throughout the night). One of my favorite meals I have had this year & would absolutely go back if we find ourselves in Quebec City!

We had an exceptional experience at this restaurant. The five course holiday menu was sublime. Two highlights were the venison & oysters.The service was equally good. We did the wine pairing,Marie Jean was very passionate & professional pairing wines with each course. Her recommendations were stellar. There was a young man who's name I didn't get but he introduced each dish & accompanying sauces with great professionalism. The chefs were very friendly. Given our superb experience, I recommend this restaurant without reservation. Thank you for a magical culinary experience! Jorge

A message to the owner. Your restaurant has both exceptional food & impeccable service. The chefs were very friendly, Marie Jean took us around Europe with your wine pairing & the young man who served our plates(sorry to him did not get his name)was outstanding in explaining all the ingredients in the courses. Both were very passionate about their work. The food was sublime. We loved all the five courses . The venison dish & the PEI oysters were nothing short of amazing. Without reservation, I highly recommend this restaurant

Waou que dire...fantastique !!! Un accueil exceptionnel ! Nous avons eu la chance de pouvoir saluer les cuisiniers qui ont été très sympatiques. Le service était remarquable. Les plats sont absolument divins. Si vous voulez une expérience gustative incroyable, c'est la bonne adresse, vous serez charmés. Félicitations à cette merveilleuse équipe ! Un 5/5 amplement mérité.
