Le 160, rue Saint-Paul s’est toujours avéré un lieu où les ingrédients et le service de qualité supérieurs font la loi. Fondé en 1860 par Narcisse Rioux, le magasin général Chez Rioux & Pettigrew fournissait aux restaurateurs, aux épiciers, aux hôpitaux et aux communautés religieuses une grande variété de produits locaux ou d’importation.

Barils de mélasse, poches de farine, sucre, gruau, fruits et légumes en conserves, épices, noix, raisins secs, chocolat, bonbons présentés sur des étalages… On y trouvait même de l’alcool jusqu’à la création de la Commission des liqueurs en 1921!

The resto is billed as a cuisine boreale. I'm not sure I'd agree, unless what is meant is a kind of rustic, hard-scrabble, scavenged cuisine; an egg par cooked with white beans sprung from a ship wrecked tin, sprinkled with the inevitable bacon bits (including for the pescatarian experience?), prawn ceviche-style (ok) but not deveined (not ok). Main plate was agreeable but meh. Dessert was bizarre-caraway spiced brittle with micro, lavender biscuit? & the experience was also boreale in the following sense: not a green to be seen. Service was very pleasant & good! Mixed drinks were too. I admire the ambition of the chef, which is what brought us. Sadly we would not recommend & would not risk another visit considering the cost.

Nous avons pris la table d'hôte secrète quand le serveur nous a dit qu'ils pouvaient accommoder les allergies (étant donné un de nous ne mange ni gluten, ni viande rouge). Tous les plats étaient excellents & savoureux dans une ambiance chaleureuse, avec un service très sympa. Fortement recommandé

The best dining experience ever! We visited Quebec City for our anniversary & wanted to try all sorts of restaurants. We aren't lovers of fish or caviar...etc. so we were worried about the Tasting Menu but our server asked us about our preferences & catered our menu to our tastes. Everything looked beautiful & tasted incredible! I highly recommend it!

Wow! This was an amazing experience from start to finish. Every course of our blind tasting was incredible. The atmosphere was perfect, the staff was so friendly...it was our best dinner out. I can not recommend this enough.
