Le 160, rue Saint-Paul s’est toujours avéré un lieu où les ingrédients et le service de qualité supérieurs font la loi. Fondé en 1860 par Narcisse Rioux, le magasin général Chez Rioux & Pettigrew fournissait aux restaurateurs, aux épiciers, aux hôpitaux et aux communautés religieuses une grande variété de produits locaux ou d’importation.

Barils de mélasse, poches de farine, sucre, gruau, fruits et légumes en conserves, épices, noix, raisins secs, chocolat, bonbons présentés sur des étalages… On y trouvait même de l’alcool jusqu’à la création de la Commission des liqueurs en 1921!

Fantastic food! We had tasting menu with wine pairings. The only complaint we have is with the choice of wine with dessert. The wine served was effervescent & quite tart. It did not compliment the dessert . A wine sweeter than the sweetness of the dessert would be more appropriate.

A warm & inviting atmosphere with an exceptional team of hosts. The food was outstanding & the wine was just as excellent. Rioux came recommended by our Air BNB hosts as well as an article we had read. It lived up to all the praise. Would recommend & would visit again given the opportunity. Thanks!

Excellent attention to food, with great care in presentation, ingredients & innovation. Much less attention paid to service - let's hope this was a Covid issue, although numerous other establishments we visited in the same week seemed to have sorted out such issues. Our table was not ready & no apologies offered, & then we had another long wait to be addressed once seated. Wines were disappointing & overpriced. A disappointing evening as compared to such an excellent experience at the same location 3 years prior.

Food & selection was unique - really enjoyed it!
We requested to speak to an "expert" about the selection of wine, & this took 20 minutes...way too long!
We might have drank two bottles otherwise.

Flavours & atmosphere excellent! Good would have been 5 if bison wasn't more tender. Found it very chewy. All other dishes were 5/5.
Very nice wine list as well.

We enjoyed the Pettigrew prix fixe menu with wine pairing ( total $220 + tax & tip & any other drinks for two) Probably the best dinner experience we have had. Service was fantastic. Do this at least once if you can. Not at all pretentious. A great evening.
