AFFAMÉS D’HISTOIRE?

Le 160, rue Saint-Paul s’est toujours avéré un lieu où les ingrédients et le service de qualité supérieurs font la loi. Fondé en 1860 par Narcisse Rioux, le magasin général Chez Rioux & Pettigrew fournissait aux restaurateurs, aux épiciers, aux hôpitaux et aux communautés religieuses une grande variété de produits locaux ou d’importation.

Barils de mélasse, poches de farine, sucre, gruau, fruits et légumes en conserves, épices, noix, raisins secs, chocolat, bonbons présentés sur des étalages… On y trouvait même de l’alcool jusqu’à la création de la Commission des liqueurs en 1921!

Really great food, cocktails & wine, with knowledgeable servers & good atmosphere. Jeremy at the bar walked us through everything & we really enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend & return.

Nous avons dégusté leur menu dégustation, une version régulière & une végétarienne. Les deux options furent savoureuses.

Food & atmosphere were excellent. Upon arriving we were seated in a back room while waiting for our seats at the bar to be readied. Unfortunately, it was a bit chaotic as our seats were ready as they opened our bottle of wine & the switch was not terrbly smooth...we could have waited the extra couple of minutes to be seated making the entire process less awkward. The host, although trying to be helpful, had no working knowledge of a very nice reserve wine list & seemingly no ability to clarify between 3 selections I was deciding between. The bartender who also acted as our waiter was outstanding! He was juggling many responsibilities simultaneously but he did a great job. Very nicely executed menu. I look forward to returning in the future & would definitely recommend the place.

Ce fut une belle expérience du début à la fin, tant pour le service que pour la nourriture. La formule brunch à partagé nous a beaucoup plu, les portions étaient bonnes & la présentation magnifique! À très bientôt! :)

Service is excellent, & everyone welcomes you as a respected guest, not just a paying customer. The servers were not pretentious & were patient in answering questions, including the names of cheeses when we remarked how we love cheeses. We didn't feel rushed through the meal, & the timing between courses was perfect for conversing & digesting a bit but not being so hungry while waiting for the next course. The atmosphere is "winter warm." The lighting is cozy & soft, & you can still see the food without using your phone to see the menu or each other. I would go back again & skip to touristy restaurants in the upper part of the city. It was worth every penny because the food, services, & experience were one of the best in old Quebec City.
