AFFAMÉS D’HISTOIRE?

Le 160, rue Saint-Paul s’est toujours avéré un lieu où les ingrédients et le service de qualité supérieurs font la loi. Fondé en 1860 par Narcisse Rioux, le magasin général Chez Rioux & Pettigrew fournissait aux restaurateurs, aux épiciers, aux hôpitaux et aux communautés religieuses une grande variété de produits locaux ou d’importation.

Barils de mélasse, poches de farine, sucre, gruau, fruits et légumes en conserves, épices, noix, raisins secs, chocolat, bonbons présentés sur des étalages… On y trouvait même de l’alcool jusqu’à la création de la Commission des liqueurs en 1921!

Exceptional dining experience! We were seated at the front of the restaurant in a window seat. The restaurant was cozy & charming & we were told it was a former grocery store, back in the day. Our waitress, Jade, was fabulous! She always had a smile, was personable, professional, kept on top of everything, & really added to the wonderful time spent. The food was SUPERB! From presentation, execution, different & unique flavor profiles, one plate to the next was divine. At the end of our dinner, our lovely waitress Jade gave us a tour of the restaurant, from the kitchen (where the magic happens) to the very large back area. This place is a MUST!!!!!

The place is gorgeous & we were treated very cordially from the minute we walked in. Our table was in a quieter room, which we appreciated. Our server was lovely & friendly. Our cocktails were perfect. The only reason I took a star away was that the food, while very well-prepared & delicious, was a little overly-complicated for my palate. I was reminded of Coco Chanel's advice to take off one accessory before leaving the house. There was SO much going on that I actually felt overwhelmed. This may appeal to other diners, so again, that was just our opinion. Also you should know that the portions are quite large & generous, so take that into consideration when ordering depending on your appetite. Overall, we are very happy to have enjoyed a meal here.

Le Rioux mérite vraiment son référencement au Michelin. Tous les services sont minutieusement pensés pour atteindre un équilibre de saveur succulent. L'ambiance chaleureuse & le service exceptionnel ne font que bonifier l'expérience. C'est un restaurant qui laisse un souvenir très marquant.
