AFFAMÉS D’HISTOIRE?

Le 160, rue Saint-Paul s’est toujours avéré un lieu où les ingrédients et le service de qualité supérieurs font la loi. Fondé en 1860 par Narcisse Rioux, le magasin général Chez Rioux & Pettigrew fournissait aux restaurateurs, aux épiciers, aux hôpitaux et aux communautés religieuses une grande variété de produits locaux ou d’importation.

Barils de mélasse, poches de farine, sucre, gruau, fruits et légumes en conserves, épices, noix, raisins secs, chocolat, bonbons présentés sur des étalages… On y trouvait même de l’alcool jusqu’à la création de la Commission des liqueurs en 1921!

10/10 experience - we walked in without a reservation but they worked to find us a table despite the place being so busy.

We went to another restaurant on the Michelin Guide in Quebec but this beat our expectations by far! We agreed that the halibut wasn't their best dish but everything else was perfection.

Sadly didn't get dessert because we were too full (& happy).

Unfortunately quite disappointed. My entrée came with a hair on the plate. As someone who has worked in restaurants, I can understand, stuff happens. I called a waiter over-he was quick to take it away & apologized profusely. They brought me bread so that I had something to eat while they redid my meal. The true disappointment happened when the second meal I received was quite obvious rushed. Sure it was nice to have my food quick, but elements of the plate were lukewarm, it had significantly less sauce than the first, & the asparagus was not fully cooked (see photo). Furthermore, they did not comp the plate & added it to the bill which was a bit surprising. All other members of my party loved their meals & the service was amazing hence the two stars.

Easily within the top five of my list of best restaurants in North America & Japan. Fascinating food with an outstanding balance of creativity & taste. Presentation was superb, & we enjoyed layers of tastes from every bite. The server & kitchen staff were perfectly synced with our dining pace as if they were all watching us, yet there was no intrusion into our conversation. Every staff member was friendly & welcoming. I have only a few restaurants I want to return to repeatedly, & this one is one of them.

Excellente expérience! Tout était parfait. Nous y allions pour célébrer notre anniversaire de mariage & nous avons été ravis. Le service est impeccable. La nourriture était divine. Nous avons pris le menu découverte avec l'accord vin-mets. Je le recommande grandement. Notre serveur était vraiment sympathique & extrêmement professionnel. L'expérience était parfaite! Nous y retournerons avec plaisir.
