The BEST Japanese izakaya in Canada. Thank you again for your excellent food, drinks (Yuzu non-alcohol was excellent), & service. When I had the 1st bite of okonomiyaki, tears dropped. Every dish tasted so original & every dish had the perfect sauce to go with it. I can't imagine the prep time for each dish. Everything had an amazing attention to detail. All the staff were working really hard proving excellent service. I felt love from the food & restaurant. We tried other restaurants from Michelin guide while we were traveling the Eastern Canada (including Toronto) from B.C. This restaurant was by far the BEST. Arigatou Gozaimas.

If you want a nice place to share good food & have delicious drinks, Hon? Izakaya is one of the best options! We had beef takaki (!), pork belly, duck hearts, vegetables tempura, hand rolls & fried balls of salmon, shrimp & potato (!). Everything was so good & well done. We tried four different drinks & our favourites were sakura & la mer noire. Will come back for sure!

Atmosphere was great. Lively & bustling. Service was slow. We had been seated for almost 40 minutes before we got our drinks & they came out after we got our first dish. I'd noted that one person in our party was allergic to gluten in the reservation. It was not until we were seated & had placed our drink order that the server mentioned the gluten allergy noted in the reservation & informed us there were very few GF options. This would have been helpful to know prior to being seated, or even before we got to the restaurant, since they obviously knew because they proactively mentioned it to us after we ordered our drinks, & especially since there was a question about allergies during the booking process. The food we did get was fine (& just fine); the miso sake was mushy (GF), the edamame overcooked (GF, took almost an hour to come out), but the pork shumai (not GF) were yummy. If you can eat gluten this would be a fun place to spend an evening but if not I wouldn't bother going unless you're not hungry (or thirsty, lol).

Impeccable service & ambiance as usual. Drinks were amazing, beautiful selection of Saké (best in the city I'd say without a doubt). Food was divine ❤?

Le service était vraiment sua' coche, le staff est vraiment sympathique, on nous a offert une table même si le resto était plein à craquer avec comme compromis d'attendre au bar un 20 minutes (leurs drinks ont rendus l'attente bien agréable). La seule chose que j'aurais à reprocher c'est que le resto deviens très bruyant quand c'est plein, mais rien de dramatique, ça se rend jamais au point où une conversation est impossible, par contre je comprend que c'est pas tout le monde qui est aussi tolérant de ça. Ils ont aussi des bonnes options sans gluten pour ceux que ça intéresse !

We visited Hono Izakaya last weekend & had an amazing time. We found the restaurant while looking for places that had both vegetarian & meat options. We got to the restaurant a little before the opening time & decided to walk around. By the time, we got to the restaurant, there was a line out the door, at the opening time. We decided to try our luck & were able to get seated, despite not having a reservation. I had the vegetarian shumai & the yuzu lemonade. The vegetarian shumai was one of the most delicious foods that I have had from restaurants, it melted in my mouth. The yuzu lemonade paired amazingly with the shumai, as it had a tangy taste. To top it all off, the service was impeccable. The people working at the restaurant constantly made sure that our needs were properly looked after. Water provided when the water jug was empty, drinks & food served in a surprisingly fast amount of time. Would definitely come back here when visiting Quebec City again.
