Speaking of respect: for us, respect is measured by the sum of the parts to which we decide to apply it, and this is what makes our integrity. Here there is no discrimination. Respect is applied everywhere: to traditions, to food, to customers and to their experience. Fla-fla in our decor, we don't want it. If you want a nice place to share good food & have delicious drinks, Hon? Izakaya is one of the best options! We had beef takaki (!), pork belly, duck hearts, vegetables tempura, hand rolls & fried balls of salmon, shrimp & potato (!). Everything was so good & well done. We tried four different drinks & our favourites were sakura & la mer noire. Will come back for sure!
The dishes & vibes were so on point that one would have assumed the chef to either be Japanese or trained in Japan.
We love the izakaya style as you can order multiple dishes & share them. We enjoyed the grilled mushrooms, the salmon belly, & assorted sashimi. The prices were very attractive for the quality & freshness of the dishes. The only dish I didn't enjoy was the asparagus as the miso sauce overpowered the vegetables.
Friendly service overall. Reservation is a must as the restaurant filled up very quickly within 15 mins of opening on a Sunday night.
On our third day in Québec City, I was craving something warm, brothy, & familiar. A quick Google search led me to Honor Izakaya, just a few minutes from our hotel - & as we approached, I noticed a Michelin Recommendation 2025 sticker on the door. Expectations officially raised.
We arrived at 5:33 PM & the izakaya section was already full, so we went with ramen - & it did not disappoint.
🍜 I ordered the miso ramen, which came with tender pork, bok choy, shiitake mushrooms, & a soft-boiled egg. The broth was rich & savory, slightly salty but deeply satisfying. Everything was perfectly balanced, & exactly what I needed after days of Western food.
Friendly service, cozy atmosphere, & now I understand why it caught Michelin's eye. A lovely little spot that hits the spot.
💡Tip: Arrive early or make a reservation in advance if you want to dine in the izakaya section - it fills up fast.

The service is friendly & takes the time to present you the dishes served. Their recommendations look to be on-point too. One critique I would give is the menu of the moment. There wasn't any explanation or promotion of it. I happened to be sitted next to the chalk board that had it written so asked about it or I would have missed it.
The cuisine is more fusion than traditional Izakaya, but the flavor is great. Out of the 5 dishes I ordered, only one was lacking a bit of flavor compared to the others that are oozing umami.
Easily the best meal I had during my recent trip to Canada (Montreal & Quebec). Every bite was fresh, flavorful, & beautifully prepared-the sushi & sashimi were simple yet elegant, & incredibly refreshing. The place was buzzing with energy, with a lively, modern vibe that made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend Hon? Izakaya, & I'll definitely be coming back next time I'm in town!

Installés confortablement au bar, avec une vue directe sur les cuisines & le barman, nous avons eu la chance de plonger dans l'univers culinaire unique de Hono Izakaya. - Pour débuter en beauté, nous avons savouré des cocktails créatifs, frais, & préparés avec une passion palpable. Chaque gorgée était une véritable surprise pour les papilles ! - Ne parvenant pas à nous décider sur les plats, notre serveur, qui était aussi le barman, nous a proposé de fermer le menu & de le laisser nous surprendre. & quelle excellente idée ! C'était sans aucun doute la meilleure décision à prendre. Chaque plat était un délice : varié, frais, avec un équilibre parfait entre légumes, poisson, viande & tofu. L'excellence à chaque bouchée ! Le timing du service était parfait, avec une succession de plats ni trop rapide, ni trop lente. Nous avons pu savourer chaque moment sans aucune précipitation. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié la qualité du service : notre serveur était attentif sans être intrusif, un équilibre rare dans beaucoup de restaurants. Il intervenait seulement lorsque c'était nécessaire, ce qui nous a permis de pleinement profiter de l'ambiance, tout en nous laissant emporter par cette expérience gustative exceptionnelle. Ce fut un moment calme, riche en saveurs, & vraiment agréable. Enfin, côté prix, nous avons trouvé cela tout à fait honnête & abordable, ce qui a ajouté à l'agrément de cette soirée. Un grand merci pour cette expérience unique, & soyez assurés que nous reviendrons avec grand plaisir !
