We visited Hono Izakaya last weekend & had an amazing time. We found the restaurant while looking for places that had both vegetarian & meat options. We got to the restaurant a little before the opening time & decided to walk around. By the time, we got to the restaurant, there was a line out the door, at the opening time. We decided to try our luck & were able to get seated, despite not having a reservation. I had the vegetarian shumai & the yuzu lemonade. The vegetarian shumai was one of the most delicious foods that I have had from restaurants, it melted in my mouth. The yuzu lemonade paired amazingly with the shumai, as it had a tangy taste. To top it all off, the service was impeccable. The people working at the restaurant constantly made sure that our needs were properly looked after. Water provided when the water jug was empty, drinks & food served in a surprisingly fast amount of time. Would definitely come back here when visiting Quebec City again.

Highly recommend Hono Izakaya, the entire experience was top-notch. It is low-key, but the atmosphere & the service were exceptional. & as for the food...it was 5/5, they had a wide variety of options to choose from so we had a few small plates to try out & then had our main plates & we loved every single bite.

Dès le premier contact l'équipe du Hono Izakaya est chaleureuse & à l'écoute. Le menu est en formule « plat à partager ». Ce qui simplifie la lourde tâche de choisir parmis tous les choix qui ont l'air plus délicieux les uns que les autres!!! Le service, la cuisine, l'ambiance, la déco! Parfait repas! Hono ramen prochainement!

I enjoyed my dinner here. I heard it was the best izakaya in Quebec City so i had to visit. Although I'm not sure if my expectations were met with the dishes I ordered. I loved the Beef Tataki & Momo skewer. The miss for me was the Tsukune. It tasted a lot like a Gyoza filling- very gingery. Cooked well, pretty juicy, but not an authentic flavour so it threw me off. I would have preferred a real egg yolk to the emulsified one. However, I liked the atmosphere & decor a lot. Overall, for me it was nothing special

Good atmosphere but food is just ordinary. We came here because the place had many reviews & we were curious to try out a popular Asian restaurant in Quebec City. However, if you're used to Asian food, this place will be a disappointment. In terms of izakaya, it really isn't anything special & probably only popular due to the lack of other Japanese restaurants. If you're a tourist intrigued by the popularity of a Japanese restaurant in this city, then I would skip it.

Fantastic! We were weighing multiple dinner options, & I'm glad we landed on Hono Izakaya. Everything we had was very tasty, with a few twists on the typical fare. The karage chicken was the standout for us - we ended up ordering a second batch. Highly recommended!
