From the start when the greeter recognized our name from the reservation & had a table ready for us, to the conclusion two plus hours later, the entire experience was very good.
The onion soup was served with cheese bread slices, a very different ay of serving French onion soup. We enjoyed it thoroughly.
Our entrees were beef bourguignon & trout fillet. The bourguignon was tender, simmered in a rich wine sauce with carrots, pearl onions, mushrooms, & plentiful mashed potatoes. The trout was served on top of mashed potatoes, asparagus, pearl onions, & carrots. Both were excellent though could have been served a little bit warmer.
Dessert was a wonderful carrot cake (can't get enough carrots).
A delightfully French Canadian culinary experience. Excellent food, outstanding service, beautiful rustic decor, every detail of our visit was perfect. I highly recommend the Tartiflette...heavenly!

Some of the best food in Canada! Staff are friendly, food is TO DIE FOR!! blend of authentic Canadian cuisine & the French cuisine that influenced it! Cannot recommend enough, if i had to pick something to recommend (which is hard because everything was SO GOOD) I'd recommend the duck carpaccio & the maple-glazed pork shank. Every dessert option was phenomenal, but definitely snag some of the'bûcheron' chocolate cake, it was moist, nostalgic, & from a small local family business! (Plus you can get two free mimosas at brunch service with the coupon on the box) all in all, an authentic taste of old town Quebec!
The service was terrible. The host was rude & unprofessional. We didn't have a reservation & were waiting in line for a table, but the host kept seating people who arrived after us, even though they also didn't have reservations. At the end of breakfast, we were given a different bill, supposedly due to a'mistake.' If you don't speak French, you're treated like a second-class customer. The coffee was not good, but the food was tasty.
Great meal. We enjoyed the poutine to start & the cocktails were excellent. The mussels with bacon & bleu cheese sauce (plus frites) was so good. Others enjoyed the halibut with crème sauce & the French onion soup. Waiter was excellent. Good atmosphere & decor - we'll eat there again!
We visited La Buchette for dinner while vacationing outside of Quebec City. The atmosphere, food, & service were fantastic.
The vibe is very cozy & home-like. The restaurant is outfitted with a brick & exposed wood interior, much taxidermy, & one half of a vehicle. The other half is located in their related restaurant, La Buche. Very very cool atmosphere with great music playing.
I loved that the main meals were divided into general food, French food, & Quebecois food on the menu. My preference when traveling is to eat the local cuisine & this made it easy. My party of 2 ordered the house poutine with maple glazed pork belly as an appetizer. For our main meal, we ordered the Beef Bourguignon & the Tartiflette a l'Origine de Charlevoix. Both were fantastic!
Aside from all of the great food & music, the service made our experience. I believe our waitress's name was Océane. She went above & beyond by sharing a hand-written list of recommendations for the next town we were visiting in Quebec. Highly recommend La Buchette if you are looking for a nice meal with a cozy atmosphere!

A must when in Quebec! We have dined in quite a few different restaurants & absolutely loved everything here from A to Z. The staff was super welcoming & of good advice & we loved the decor & more intimate setting. We started with cocktails & were impressed by the authenticity of them (Le Duc, their own version of whiskey sour with maple syrup was really bold & simply delicious) featuring local ingredients, well balanced & each beautifully presented. The food was excellent & we loved their take on French food with a twist of Quebec, (the Boeuf Bourguignon that was slow cooked for 10 hours was a killer!) & the trout tartare had a lovey kick to it. Products are of high quality & mostly locally sourced. Would absolutely return as we really enjoyed our evening here!
Wow, 🤩 three simple letters that says what I think.
I came here with my wife for breakfast & we will definitely come back next time we're in Old Quebec.
I asked for French soup & got it, even if it was too early for lunch... Delicious 😋
For breakfast we had Trout toast & Brunch plate... both tasted exquisite & were plentiful to start a day of city exploration.
Thak you for a great culinary experience.
