Had a great evening - wonderful food & terrific service. My husband enjoyed the chowder & I had the beef bourguignon - both were excellent. You will enjoy your dinner here. It was a nice evening so we enjoyed sitting outside as well. Thanks for a delicious dinner!

We had an amazing dinner experience! The restaurant was beautiful, the atmosphere was wonderful, & the service was excellent. The staff waz incredibly attentive, friendly, & made our evening even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!
From the start when the greeter recognized our name from the reservation & had a table ready for us, to the conclusion two plus hours later, the entire experience was very good.
The onion soup was served with cheese bread slices, a very different ay of serving French onion soup. We enjoyed it thoroughly.
Our entrees were beef bourguignon & trout fillet. The bourguignon was tender, simmered in a rich wine sauce with carrots, pearl onions, mushrooms, & plentiful mashed potatoes. The trout was served on top of mashed potatoes, asparagus, pearl onions, & carrots. Both were excellent though could have been served a little bit warmer.
Dessert was a wonderful carrot cake (can't get enough carrots).
We had a fantastic dinner at Buchette. The service was warm & friendly. Our waiter made great recommendations on food & wine. The ambiance is very comfortable & stylish. The Boeuf Bourginon was outstanding, I will definitely be back the next time we visit Quebec City.

Great selection of classic breakfast/brunch fare in a full on Canadiana decorated space. Every dish was beautifully prepared, with quality ingredients (read thick & crispy bacon, Quebec maple syrup, light crepes, & great coffee) & the service was both friendly & incredibly fast. Reservations are recommended for breakfast/brunch as the space is not huge & the place is very popular. Highly recommended.
First visit to Quebec City. La Buchette has a wonderful ambience & serving staff-warm, friendly & highly knowledgeable. The food is wonderful, refined, but yet homey. I will definitely return & recommend to others.
When you order hamburger, be sure to ask for pink or medium rare. I ordered them on three separate occasions from different servers & none of them bothered to ask how I'd like it done. So they all came out anywhere from well done & very dry.
If you never had poutine you can upgrade your side of fries to poutine for seven bucks. It's pretty decent poutine.
The lunch menu selection is very limited but you may be able to order breakfast past lunch time.
The service is on the slow side so don't come here if you are tight on schedule.
I recommend having the mussels & blue cheese sauce. However don't order it if you go by there yourself. Split it with at least two people if not three & share other dishes.
Overall I think this place is solid but keep your expectation low. It is not nearly as good as the rating suggests. So if you can't find a table don't wait more than ten minutes. You can find alternatives nearby.

A delightfully French Canadian culinary experience. Excellent food, outstanding service, beautiful rustic decor, every detail of our visit was perfect. I highly recommend the Tartiflette...heavenly!
We would highly recommended La Buchette, you must try it if you are in Quebec City. When we arrived, Christopher greeted us & went over & above to find us a table during a busy dinner service. Our server Diego was delightful, warm, friendly, funny & extremely knowledgeable about the menu, making suggestions & recommendations for food & selecting a delicious wine. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming & very personal! We were dining with my sister & her husband, we all agreed the'La Buchette experience' was the highlight of our short visit to Quebec City. My husband had the maple glazed pork shank, I had the beef carpaccio with a green salad - both dishes were delicious. In fact we returned to the restaurant the next morning for breakfast & Diego served us again with the same friendly, warm & welcoming service. My husband had the crepes with chocolate sauce & berries, I had the cassolette which was super delicious, perfect over easy eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, fresh spinach, & more all in one dish. It was another fantastic meal with the same super-fantastic service. Merci beaucoup Diego & Christopher you made the experience at La Buchette truly memorable. We will be back!
