The two dished we had was very tasty, especially the pork chop dish was fantastic.
Cochon Dingue already felt familiar before the plates even arrived. I am biased, I know this place through its sister restaurant & I have always had a soft spot for the way Resto Plaisir runs a dining room. The service was exactly what I expected from them, calm, attentive, with that quiet rhythm that makes you feel they have done this a thousand times & still care. The room carried that warm buzz that makes conversation easy & time a little softer.
The food followed that same line. The ribs were very tender, sliding off the bone in a way that felt almost lazy, in the best sense. The chips came out hot & crisp, the kind that disappear one after another without much thought. We were hoping for Pâté Chinois, a small nostalgic craving, & felt a little let down when it was not available. We went for a Bouilli instead & it surprised me. Full of flavor, richer & more nuanced than the version I grew up with. It felt like someone had taken a familiar family dish & decided it deserved a bit more attention. Walking out, I was reminded that comfort does not always look like memory. Sometimes it shows up in a plate that gently rewrites what you thought you knew.
The Perfect Early Morning Send-Off from Quebec City!
If you're looking for a delicious & welcoming brunch spot in Quebec City that opens early, Cochon Dingue Rue Saint-Jean is your answer! While many restaurants in the area were still closed, this charming eatery was already buzzing with warmth & energy.
The space is spacious & beautifully decorated, making it a comfortable place to start your day. The staff were incredibly friendly & attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed for a relaxed & satisfying meal.
We enjoyed a delightful brunch here before heading out of the city, & it was the perfect way to wrap up our Quebec adventure. The food was flavorful, freshly prepared, & served with a smile-a truly memorable final stop!
If you're an early riser or need a dependable spot for a morning meal, don't miss Cochon Dingue. We'll definitely be back on our next visit!
Very nice place with delicious food. Everything was fresh & well prepared. The only thing is, if you don't like the combination of meat & sweet sauces, you need to study the menu in more detail. Special thanks to the waiter Alex. He provided very good service, after which you want to return to this institution again. Thank you Alex & I wish you personal success in life.
