My parents have been frequent visitors to Le Continental for years & it was their one food recommendation when I told them we'd be visiting Quebec City. Having experienced Le Continental's exceptional service & delicious food for ourselves, we now understand why they go so often.
We started with the Ceasar salad which was made table side & is easily one of the best Ceasar salads I can recall. My wife & I had filet while my daughter went with the peppercorn sirloin which I think may have been even better than the filet. We also had mashed potatoes & creamed spinach for sides & I have to say that, of all things, the creamed spinach really stood out. It was delicious.
I'd like to say we our desserts were awesome too but we were so full from our meals that we had to pass on dessert.
I cannot say enough good things about our dinner experience at Le Continental & highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal in Quebec City.
Pour notre 45 E Anniversaire de mariage, on voulait revenir dans le « temps » avec le repas flambé à la table qui, malheureusement, n'existe presque plus. Un service d'excellence avec « notre serveur Mathieu C » ,& le reste du personnel. Salade Caesar, chateaubriand flambé, pêches flambées & la petite surprise avec 2 chandelles. Merci Mathieu C. C'est à refaire.
We had a delightful dinner at Le Continental to celebrate a big birthday. The service was impeccable, the food divine, & the table-side preparation of our Caesar salad & entrees was dramatic & fun. The only reason I didn't give five stars is that the selection of wines by the glass was quite disappointing--I would expect higher-quality options for a restaurant of this caliber.

We dined at LeContinental restaurant on Wednesday , June 28, 2023. We always seek this restaurant out when we come here because of its exceptional food, beautiful decor & exemplary service. This restaurant not only receives accolades for its cuisine but this is where you must come to have flambé showcased. A bottle of wine to celebrate life as ordered & we did toast to Life. We then began with Cesar salad prepared table side; we then indulged in lobster flambé with a new burg sauce that was to die for. Dover sole was deboned tableside & a delectable salmon dish was presented at our table. Potatoes au gratin was rich in taste & a great accompaniment with our entrees. Lastly, we simply could not end this dinner experience without ordering something that our waiter could flambé. So crepes Suzette & cherries jubilee was ordered & set a flame. It was a spectacular evening & will be one for the memory book.
What an experience. It is not just fabulous service & excellent food, but it was a whole experience. They made our salad & finished off the chateubriand at the table. It was a fabulous night!
We had an outstanding dinning experience. The service was both friendly & professional. The vibe was quiet excpet for the staff moving about to provide the service with light music in the background. The service was excellent with one major waiter & several others to support...a total team environment which you do not see in many restaurants. The caesar salad for two is highly recommended as well as the chateaubriand....all prepared at your table. I look forward to returning & would not hesitate to recommend Le Continental to others.
What am amazing experience.
Caesar salad dressing was made from scratch at the table & the salad was great. Foie gras (seared) was the best & largest serving I have ever had & was amazing. Steaks were also prepared at the table & were excellent. Our waiter/ preparer was welcoming, entertaining & gave us a great experience.
It wasn't my first time patronizing this restaurant, so my review & impressions are not just based on this most recent visit.
The customer service is always superb, & very attentive from start to end, no matter the size of the party & the demands imparted.
Their wine list/menu is superb & so encompassing, from glass offerings to whole bottles & limited grapes, too.
Their food menu is "traditionally French" but that's by no means a criticism, it's a highlight if anything. Most of the steaks are cooked side table, the Caesar salad is also prepared side table, & so are some/most of the desserts.
If you're looking for an exceptional meal & evening out in Old Quebec - this is it, don't look any further or farther!
