L'Échaudé is widely regarded as a staple in Old Quebec, celebrated for its authentic French cuisine and charming atmosphere. Many diners praise the exceptional quality of dishes such as the duck confit, scallops, and beef tartare, noting that the food often balances creativity and tradition. While the service is frequently described as professional, attentive, and welcoming, some experiences are occasionally impacted by longer wait times or inconsistent pacing during busy periods. Personnel courtois & excellent service, très belle ambiance. Nous avons pris un tartare de saumon & une bavette de boeuf. C'était excellent! Nous y retournerons pour y bruncher sur la belle terrasse... 😊

Fantastic classic, well prepared food. Everything was fresh & delicious. The service was impeccable. Loved the tartare trilogy, the veal cheeks, & the confit duck. Great wines by the glass & a really nice, French heavy, wine list. We certainly recommend.

We dined at L'Echaude our first full night in Québec City & it was a smash hit. The atmosphere was very trendy & a full restaurant is always a harbinger of good things to come. The service was relaxed & very friendly. One of our servers was kind enough to help us choose an excellent Spanish white wine that we were both very impressed with. On the down side, my wife ordered two appetizers for her meal & she wasn't particularly keen on either of them. She had the saffron crab cake & the salmon tartare. She found both dishes a bit bland to be honest. But I am writing this review from my perspective & the meal I had was phenomenal. My starter was the cereal-encrusted foie gras with cranberry chutney. It was hands down the best foie gras dish I have ever had. The texture & flavour were both exquisite & the chutney was the perfect complement. For my main, I ordered the leg of rabbit with homemade pasta & again, the flavour profile was spectacular. The meat was moist & rich, the pasta was melt-in-your-mouth & the sauce was superb. We soldiered on with dessert & the creamy chocolate strawberry tart was the perfect ending to a wonderful dining experience. I wouldn't hesitate to come again nor to recommend to friends. We'll be back!

We love this restaurant, having gone for the first time last year. I loved the way our waiter spoke first in French followed by the English translation or the other way around.. our dishes were innovative & delicious, the salmon tartare & sweetbreads are memorable. We will return I am sure.

Found this restaurant through Google. It did not disappoint. We started with cocktails & they were made to perfection. The whiskey sour was top notch. Our waiter was excellent. He recognized that one person in our party did not speak French & brought up English menus & spoke with English. He was very personable, not over the top, just enough. He never missed a beat. The food was very flavorful, & great presentation. The plates were very good portions. We had oysters, tartare, marrow, salmon, cabbage & sausage & a fish stew. Everyone was very impressed with their dish. The staff seemed to really work well together & help each other out. Great atmosphere & food - will come again next time in Quebec City!
