We visited Les Ancêtres Auberge Restaurant on Île d'Orléans on our last night in Quebec, & we are so glad we did. We've gone to the island many times in the past for wineries, but had never gone for dinner & this experience completely exceeded our expectations.
The restaurant itself is stunning. You walk into a beautiful dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Montmorency Falls & the city. The views are incredible. We were seated in a smaller, cozy room to the right, part of the original building. It was filled with historic photos & old wooden tables, & you could truly feel the history in the space.
We were warmly greeted by Mireille, who runs the restaurant with her husband. She shared the story of her mother-in-law, whose grandparents purchased the land & built the property in the 1600s. She even showed us old photos & took the time to talk with us & our kids, which made the experience feel really personal & special.
We asked Mireille for recommendations, & everything she suggested was outstanding. I ordered the tasting menu (meat pie, meatball, maple pudding, & coffee), my wife had the warm goat cheese starter & the chef's special (beef in a mushroom sauce) & our kids shared the chicken dish.
Everything was excellent, but the chef's special was hands-down the best thing we ate during our entire vacation. The meat was cooked perfectly, & the mushrooms & sauce were incredibly flavorful, truly unforgettable.
Mireille encouraged us to walk around & explore the property & continued to share stories & history with us throughout the meal. Her warmth & hospitality made the evening even more memorable.
We've been coming to Quebec every year for ten years (usually around New Year's) & we will absolutely be returning to Les Ancêtres. It is 100% worth the short trip outside the city, & we'll be recommending it to our family & friends as a must-visit.
We were extremely disappointed, view & atmosphere were amazing but that was really it. Our first waitress said she couldn't speak English well & we waited another 20 minutes to have someone else come to our table to take our order. Our new waiter never came to the table again to check in, only once we had finished our meal. Overall, the food lacked flavor & took around 45 minutes to come out. This was supposed to be a nice dinner to celebrate our 10 year anniversary, but we were really let down & decided not to stay for dessert. Would recommend the view but not the service.
Went there for dinner .... Excellent views & the cuisine is very classic & superbly executed. Small menu with nicely appointed offering when paired with the chefs dishes mid the day.
You will not be disappointed & you will enjoy the service, the food plating, tastes, colours & textured all perfectly executed.
Rely nice! 👍

A beautiful & cozy spot full of character-perfectly decorated to reflect the 300-year-old building's charm. The staff were warm & welcoming. Dishes were delicious & artistically presented with fresh
veggies & edible flowers. A pity there were no salad options on the menu. The sunset view from the terrace over the calm St. Lawrence River made our dinner extra special.
I would return there again & recommend this place
It was an amazing place to have dinner & spend the night with our friends! In the morning, we were so happy that we stayed there. The restaurant had a great view & an amazing location. Not far from this place, you can find an amazing spot for breakfast too
The food was incredible, & the view was breathtaking. We ended up here on a whim as we were driving in the area doing some sightseeing, & we were NOT disappointed. If you have the chance to go, don't hesitate! Perhaps call to make a reservation as I think we were extremely lucky to get a table at the last minute.
I have visited this beautiful restaurant a couple of times & I’m always happy as soon as I come in. The food is so great & the servers are amazing & attentive. Few places on the island give me this homey feeling. The grandmothers recipe & the wines from Ile de Bacchus are unbeatable. What a great view.
