Review Summary

Melba is widely celebrated as a premier dining destination in Quebec City, known for its creative, high-quality French fusion cuisine and intimate, cozy atmosphere. Guests frequently praise the small plates concept, which allows for a variety of flavorful and meticulously prepared dishes that often exceed expectations. While the service is largely described as professional, attentive, and knowledgeable, the detailed menu explanations and pace of service are occasionally viewed as either an engaging touch or a slight delay depending on personal preference. Despite minor notes regarding noise levels or occasional wait times, the majority of visitors highlight the restaurant as an exceptional, memorable experience that consistently delivers on both food quality and presentation, making it a highly recommended gem that earns its prestigious reputation.

This was definitely the best food I've had in a while. Very creative dishes. Dishes were good for sharing.

Stunning place. Very beautiful. Impeccable service. Great & large wine list. The dishes were seasonal, fresh, a little simple a little technical. A truly refreshing place, especially in Quebec City where the service is generally unprofessional in its approach, too "friendly." We give it 4 stars because, despite the creativity in the shared dishes, half of them simply did not appeal to us. There was a lack of cohesion & sometimes they were unbalanced. We will definitely return & give another chance !

We visited for the first time in late November, & Melba is now our new favorite restaurant. From the moment walking in, it is so clear that the owner put so much thought into every aspect of this space. The design is so thoughtful. The seating is so comfortable (both the banquette & the chairs). The colors & the lighting so beautiful. I love the scale of the space. It is intimate while also offering enough space for privacy. The music at just the right level, & the playlist just right. I loved the terrazo floor as well. I didn't get a chance to try to padded stool seating at the counters, but they looked very comfortable as well. The service was excellent. Our server was really helpful in guiding us through our choices, preventing us from ordering too many or too few dishes. Each item was outstanding & beautifully presented. We each had a cocktail, & wines by the glass, & we were very happy with our choices. If you are looking for a more personal experience in a neighborhood setting, it is worth the excursion. We walked from the lower town in about 40 minutes, in the bitter cold, & found it completely reasonable. We hope to return soon. Such a great addition to the excellent dining scene in the city!

Quite good. Service professional though a tad too much explanation. Atmosphere nice but not barrier free. Food ok good but a couple of dishes...... Carpaccio & the ravioli lack visual appeal.

We learned about this place through a recommendation by someone at a local cafe shop & this place is an absolute show stopper in all the best ways. Everything was absolutely delicious & well balanced - & the service was beyond excellent. Was only able to take a picture of the duck because we couldn't wait to dive into the other dishes. We got the duck skewers, the scallops, the mimosa eggs with bluefin tuna, & poached pears, & every single dish was complex in flavor & were phenomenal from the presentation of the dishes to the flavors. Definitely will come again when I next visit Quebec!
