About

Pub L'Oncle Antoine operates as a traditional tavern featuring a robust menu centered on classic pub fare and hearty sandwiches. The kitchen specializes in stacked smoked meat preparations served alongside substantial sides that define the casual culinary identity of the establishment. Guests encounter a rustic atmosphere characterized by stone walls and exposed wooden beams that reflect the historical architecture of the building. The drink selection emphasizes a variety of local and imported beers intended to complement the savory nature of the meat-forward dishes. This venue functions as a primary destination for those seeking substantial portions and a focus on established, comfort-driven recipes. The layout supports both small groups and individual visitors who prioritize a straightforward approach to tavern-style sustenance in a focused, character-filled setting.

Review Summary

Pub L'Oncle Antoine is widely celebrated as a charming, historic gem in Old Québec, housed within a unique vaulted stone cellar that offers a cozy, nostalgic atmosphere. Visitors frequently praise the stellar and friendly service, noting that the staff often contribute to the pub's welcoming and lively social environment. The signature French onion soup remains a divisive but popular highlight, often described as rich and comforting with a generous layer of cheese, while other menu items like the smoked meat sandwiches and maple whiskey shots receive varied feedback. While some diners feel the food offerings are limited or inconsistent, the venue remains a top recommendation for those seeking an authentic, relaxing spot for drinks, board games, and a deep sense of local history.

Don't miss this gem pub if you don't mind strolling out of the main path filled with tourists. Great beer with decent price & nice outdoor seats. The building was made in 1600s.

10 out of 10 if you like a hole in the wall divey good time!!
Originally I had looked up to see where in Quebec City had good live music.. we arrived a little late so I don't know if the music had already stopped or maybe we just went on an off night but I am so glad that we stopped in here! Bartender recommended the beer that I had. I ended up having two pints! it's a local beer, St Ambroise Cream Ale!! Amazing!! 15 years ago this is the exact type of bar. I would've stayed that all night had a great time & made friends with the bartenders… They were so sweet & helpful. I'm old now so we cut the night short. Nostalgia vibes are there for real!! Thanks for bringing the memories back

Met some colleagues for a drink on the patio at the oldest pub in Quebec City. Cool little spit, great service.
