We came here while visiting Quebec City from Toronto, & it ended up being the best dining experience of our entire trip.
From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, seated right away, & given a thorough explanation of the menu. The restaurant was cozy, spotless, & even the bathroom was impeccably clean.
We ordered the döner sandwich & the chicken sandwich, both served on fresh homemade bread with fries & onion rings. The homemade bread was absolutely phenomenal: fresh, soft, & the perfect complement to the generous portions of flavorful meat. Both meals arrived together, smelled incredible, & tasted even better.
We've traveled all over the world & have eaten many döner sandwiches over the years. This is easily one of the best we've ever had.
We had to carry our stroller up the stairs to the second floor, & I would happily do it 100 more times because the food & service were that incredible.
A special mention to the delicious laban. It was the perfect addition to the meal!
Thank you to everyone at L'Ephèse for such an amazing experience. We'll be spreading the word back home & will definitely return the next time we're in Quebec City.
P.S. The laban was lovely!
P.P.S. To the owner: You should definitely visit Mississauga one day! We'd love to return the favor & point you toward some great spots there.
During our road trip, we wanted to enjoy some authentic Turkish food when we arrived in Quebec City. We had visited a few places we found online that presented themselves as Turkish restaurants, with Turkish-sounding names & branding, but when we arrived, they were actually Arab-owned establishments serving their own style of food while marketing it as Turkish cuisine. That was honestly frustrating. If a restaurant serves Arab cuisine, there is nothing wrong with proudly calling it Arab cuisine. However, when people advertise Turkish food & Turkish cooking, visitors naturally expect an authentic Turkish experience. Someone unfamiliar with Turkish cuisine might visit one of these places, have a disappointing meal, & leave thinking Turkish food is not good, even though the people preparing it may have no real connection to Turkish culinary traditions. Because of that, I think visitors should pay close attention & do a little research before choosing a place.
After leaving those restaurants, we eventually found this one.
The Turkish staff welcomed us warmly from the moment we arrived. From what I could see, this is a growing business run by a group of young & hardworking people who are genuinely trying to build something successful. Their enthusiasm & dedication really impressed me.
I had the opportunity to try the döner, which was very good. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to try many of the other dishes on the menu. The bread was freshly made in-house, & it was excellent. We also had a chance to chat briefly with the staff. They shared some useful information about the city & local life, which we appreciated.
The restaurant was clean, organized, & well maintained. I also noticed that they were receiving a steady stream of phone orders for takeout & delivery. Even though the place is not very large, it seemed to have a loyal customer base & a healthy amount of business.
Another positive surprise was the pricing. I found the food to be reasonably priced & offered good value for the quality provided.
Most importantly, I would like to wish the team continued success. I admire the effort they are putting into their business & hope they continue to grow & prosper in the future. Thank you for your hospitality, & best of luck with everything ahead.
