English review at the bottom

We came here while visiting Quebec City from Toronto, & it ended up being the best dining experience of our entire trip.
From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, seated right away, & given a thorough explanation of the menu. The restaurant was cozy, spotless, & even the bathroom was impeccably clean.
We ordered the döner sandwich & the chicken sandwich, both served on fresh homemade bread with fries & onion rings. The homemade bread was absolutely phenomenal: fresh, soft, & the perfect complement to the generous portions of flavorful meat. Both meals arrived together, smelled incredible, & tasted even better.
We've traveled all over the world & have eaten many döner sandwiches over the years. This is easily one of the best we've ever had.
We had to carry our stroller up the stairs to the second floor, & I would happily do it 100 more times because the food & service were that incredible.
A special mention to the delicious laban. It was the perfect addition to the meal!
Thank you to everyone at L'Ephèse for such an amazing experience. We'll be spreading the word back home & will definitely return the next time we're in Quebec City.
P.S. The laban was lovely!
P.P.S. To the owner: You should definitely visit Mississauga one day! We'd love to return the favor & point you toward some great spots there.
We ordered a taco & a kebab sandwich on Uber Eats. My sandwich was completely dry, even though I selected & PAID for x2 white sauce.
On top of that, it was completely inedible because the bread was BURNT. I had to throw it away after two bites-the burnt taste was overpowering & unbearable!
To make matters worse, Uber's support says the order is not eligible for a refund. I'm sorry, but this was my first time ordering from here-& definitely my last!
Nice restaurant inside. Poor service.
The guy was not nice over the phone & even less nice in person. I waited 2 minutes for him to notice me; he was on his phone in the kitchen. He came out with no smile, nothing, & looked more bothered than anything else.
We were traveling & didn't expect the sauce wouldn't be in the kebab. We had a tiny plastic container with a very thick sauce. Two were not what we ordered. It was difficult to put it in the sandwich because we didn't expect we'd need to do it ourselves, first time I've encountered that. Also the sandwich had almost nothing in it, it was not even close to the pictures on the other review, we had so little of meat. My husband's sandwich had nice, juicy meat; mine was absolutely the driest I'd ever had.
I took the train to join him for his birthday, which was the day we got the sandwich. Because the train got in late, we went out for a kebab, so we both got sick on his birthday.... because of the sandwiches since we were not together for a week. It can't be a coincidence. I am truly disappointed because it was very well rated online.
Maybe bad luck for the food, but definitely not great service. It doesn't make you want to give the benefit of the doubt.
I do not recommend this restaurant
Meilleur place au monde!!!! Best taco, best sandwich, best service!!! Un true gem au Québec!! Merci ☺?
Dommage, c'était un go-to
We tried the fries & two sandwiches - the döner kebab & poulet mariné. Both were delicious, especially because of the homemade bread, which was warm, soft, & really added to the flavor. You can tell the ingredients are fresh & the food is made with care. The portions were generous, & everything tasted authentic.
The restaurant itself is quite small, so be prepared for a bit of a wait if you come during busy hours. It's cozy & casual - perfect for a quick, satisfying meal rather than a long sit-down dinner.
One small note: the staff kindly asked us to leave a 5-star review, which I think they shouldn't do - good service & great food speak for themselves. That said, the quality of the sandwiches was impressive & definitely worth recommending.
Overall, a nice local spot with flavorful food & excellent bread - just let your customers decide their ratings freely.
