The food was okay, not amazing, but the service at the table was normal & generally fine. However, if you come without a reservation & there are no available tables, the host at the entrance can be very rude. That was our experience on the first visit.
Despite that, we still wanted to try the restaurant because the food looked very good in advertisements. We came back the next day after lunch when there was availability, & we were able to try the food. Unfortunately, the taste was not as good as expected.
Overall, it is still better than many other places, but the experience did not fully meet our expectations.
Pour les nostalgiques de l'Italie, un beau petit restaurant intime. L'antipasto de Firenze, gnocchi, carpaccio,pâte flambé dans la meule de parmesan, les raviolis ainsi que le Tiramisu. Tout était excellent.
Au Va Bene, on se sent bien dès qu'on entre. Le décor est simple & chaleureux, avec des couleurs très douces : des tons crème & beiges, sans rien de trop chargé. L'ambiance est calme, agréable, & on a tout de suite envie de prendre son temps.
Nous étions assis dans une petite alcôve avec des coussins, un coin vraiment confortable. & en plus, on voyait la rue pavée du Vieux-Québec par la fenêtre. Cette vue-là ajoute beaucoup au moment : on se sent à la fois au coeur d'un quartier historique & dans un endroit intime.
Le repas a été un vrai succès. Le plateau de bouchées à partager était délicieux & parfait pour goûter à plusieurs choses. L'huile d'olive & le vinaigre balsamique étaient clairement de très bonne qualité - on le remarque tout de suite. & les pâtes flambées? Wow. C'était spectaculaire & surtout vraiment bon : une des meilleures choses du repas.
Dernier détail qui a fait plaisir : une petite attention pour souligner la fête d'une personne de notre groupe. C'était simple, mais ça montre qu'ils prennent soin de leurs clients.
En bref : un décor doux, un coin de table parfait, une cuisine excellente & un service attentionné. Une très belle adresse dans le Vieux-Québec.
Nous avions reçu un service d'exception avec Thierry & nous avons reçu des pâtes overcooked ce qui changeais le goût donc ils ont remplacer notre plat de pâte flambée ... & là.. oh mon dieu! La différence wow! Tellement bon, les saveurs mélangées avec la meule de parmesan était tout à son honneur !!!'È delizioso !'
