We came upon this place completely by accident, booked a last-minute reservation, & happened to get the last room they had - what a lucky find!
It also turns out to be a dedicated gluten-free restaurant, which was such a relief. I didn't have to worry about the menu for once. I ordered the fish & chips - something I rarely get to enjoy anymore - & honestly, I would come back to Quebec just for this restaurant!
There seemed to be only one server, but despite the crowd, he was absolutely top-notch. Even with the place packed, we didn't wait long for our food. The music fit the atmosphere perfectly, & the food… wow. You would never guess it was gluten-free!
& the fish - not processed, not frozen - real fish! You'd be surprised how rare that is. Everything was fantastic, & I have zero complaints. I'll definitely be recommending this place to everyone I know!
Update Second visit
This was our second visit, & I'm still amazed! This has officially become our go-to restaurant whenever we're traveling through Quebec. The staff are always warm, welcoming, & incredibly accommodating. We arrived late for our reservation, & they couldn't have been more understanding. The food was absolutely delicious & even won over my very picky 5-year-old grandson! As someone with celiac disease, I can honestly say this is the BEST dedicated gluten-free restaurant I've ever been to. Highly recommended! 🌟🍽?
Came to Québec for a quick weekend trip. My fiancé has celiac disease & this restaurant was fully gluten free/celiac friendly. The owner is so kind & truly cares about the restaurant, food quality, & atmosphere. The food & cocktails were amazing. Will be back again!

Food was absolutely exquisite especially if you are gluten free & cannot enjoy foods that are gluten filled. The menu seems really tailored to be able to enjoy those things that those who are gluten free otherwise would not.
Our server was inattentive & inhospitable. Sadly, despite everything else being excellent; decor, cleanliness of establishment, accommodations for dining with children & of course the food.
We try to eat at dedicated gluten free restaurants when possible & doing so, we found this gem! The food was delicious amd the service was so kind. My daughter wanted to try speaking in French, but was timid. The server was so supportive & encouraging of her attempts! This is the best meal we've eaten in a very long time! Thank you for being 100% gluten free!
This was my first visit to Quebec City & when I found Veravin so close to my accommodation, I was thrilled. Gratefully, it was everything the reviews promised! I was able to have poutine for the first time in my life & my family assured me it was a very good example (I had nothing to compare it to). I also had incredibly tasty calamari & I topped off the meal with impossibly good carrot cake! The cake was so good there was no way I could tell it was gluten free.
I would recommend that the restaurant get another air conditioner, though. One small wall mounted device was far too little for a full restaurant, & it became quite uncomfortable. We actually found it cooler outside when we left!
Absolutely fantastic experience! As a dedicated gluten-free restaurant, it was such a pleasure to be able to choose anything from the menu without worrying. The food was absolutely gorgeous-fresh, delicious, & beautifully prepared. Mary, who looked after us, was incredibly kind, welcoming, & attentive.
Very slow service. The fish & chips were not great- the fish was very bland & the fries were very brown & overdone- both were super oily as well. Side salad that came with the meal was the winner! To find a totally gluten free restaurant is super exciting but unfortunately, this place fell very flat & I would not recommend wasting your money or time.
Visited during a Christmas / New Years vacation in Quebec City for our family. My wife & two teenage daughters all have dietary restrictions so we were very excited with the selection of gluten free / lactose free restaurants in Quebec. We visited Veravin on New Year's Eve.
Food was amazing, especially the appetizers. Such a treat to be able to get items that are not typically available for anyone that is unable to eat gluten or lactose. As someone that does not have food sensitivities, I think the onion rings & cheese sticks were some of the best I've ever had.
Service was also great. As it was NYE, our waiter was quite busy & we could see & appreciate his attention to detail. When not serving tables, he was thoroughly cleaning preparing for the next service, even washing menus.
The restaurant is small but nice. The only reason we gave 4 stars (instead of 5) is because of the hostess. She was quite rude & ignorant. I initially thought it was because English was her second language but saw it throughout the night. When we first arrived she informed us that our table wasn't ready & said,'I will MAKE you wait on the bench.' I passed this off as perhaps not knowing the correct (polite)words to use but after waiting for over 20 minutes we noticed that several tables (for 4) were available but being used to seat others that arrived after us. When we asked about the status of our table (which still wasn't available) she was immediately defensive & informed us that it's because the other guests were French & she couldn't seat us at a table in that section with a French waiter. I understand that rationale & would have accepted that explanation except that I didn't appreciate the tone / delivery of the message (had it not been NYE, I would not have stayed). & while I do not speak French, two of our guests are bilingual but it was never asked if we would be comfortable sitting / conversing with a French waiter. After being seated we noticed another couple having a similar interaction with the hostess.
Despite the hostess, it was a great experience & really pleased we had a chance to visit. Our total cost for four guests was about $500 (including gratuity) but it should be noted that we had two bottles of wine & other drinks. This restaurant is very reasonably priced.
A fantastic dedicated gluten-free restaurant, the kind of place where people who don't have to avoid gluten would enjoy themselves without realizing that they're eating GF! I wish we could have visited more often. I had my first French onion soup in a restaurant in decades... SO good, as were the onion rings & poutine. I've never had Alchemiste beer before but I'll definitely be looking for it in my local depaneur!
One point to improve upon: the burger 100Gluten sounded delicious & the name is hilarious (at least for the French-speakers who would get the joke... I did but my wife did not) but despite all the layers, it lacked flavour. Maybe it just needed some ketchup, or salt & pepper. Unfortunately, none of that came with our food, & our waiter was missing for the rest of our evening once our food was served. I tried to wave him down but he was very busy with other guests, & I suspect his difficulty with English meant that he was a bit uncomfortable taking orders or feedback from the rest of my family (whose French skills are not as strong as mine)...but perhaps it was entirely because of other reasons.
Aside from that, the rest of the meal, experience & atmosphere was great, & had we been in town longer (or had they been open on a Monday or Tuesday), we would have gladly gone twice in one week. Next time! Strongly recommended! 👍👍
