We ended up here during a walking food tour, & the tasting was so good that we ended up coming back for dinner that night! We got the fish & the bison, plus a great bottle of red! So incredible.
A boutique owner in Ottawa suggested that this is the best restaurant in Quebec City &, without having tried all of them, I would venture to say she was absolutely right. Unassuming from the outside, the inside is lovely, warm & charming. We were greeted by the sommelier who made wonderful suggestions to accompany our dishes. The bison carpaccio & scallop appetizers were incredible! The mac'n cheese entree may sound pedestrian, but it is anything but. If you like poutine (a food concept we're still trying to wrap our heads around), the poutine fois gras will spoil you for any other version.
This place is on a quiet little street, a half-block from a very noisy one, lined with one restaurant after another, & tables seemingly on top of each other. BE Club was a delightful oasis, in every way imaginable.

We initially went to the BE Club Bistro & Bar as part of a food tour. As it is on a side street we wouldn't have found it on our own, but in the brief time we were there, we knew we had to return for the full experience. We have all had food prepared by a cook or a chef, but to have food prepared by an artist is rare, & that is what Stefan, the chef/proprietor of BE Club Bistro Bar is, a true artist.
A sense of calm greets you as you enter the door. It is readily apparent he has put his heart & soul into this establishment. From the peaceful music, to the use of whimsical lighting & decor, to the flashes of red you can see through the brick archway into the kitchen, every detail has been selected with care, & that is also how you will be treated. Our waiter was warm, helpful, attentive & thoughtful. From his description of the food choices to his suggestions for accompanying cocktails, it was clear he took pride in his work & truly wanted us to enjoy our evening.
We began with a delightful scallop appetizer, that melted in your mouth & left you wanting for more. For our main entrees my husband had the Bison Rib which he described as succulent with robust flavors, & being one of the best meals of his life . I thoroughly enjoyed their playful twist on Mac & Cheese including the house made bacon. We gluttonously ended our meal by splitting a Poached Pear dessert that was somehow simultaneously light & decadent.
Needless to say, we left feeling very fortunate to have discovered this gem of a restaurant & hope when you are in Quebec City, you do yourself a favor & make a reservation, you will not be disappointed!
Marketed as Canadian pub it was surely a nice experience. The list was short with quite some accents. Didn't like the main dish - poutine, but the antre - bison carpacio & the dessert - the creme brule were fabulous. Unfortunately, the waiting staff was an one man show, which made the experience a real waiting. Worth trying, but definitely stands quite some room for improvement.
Such a gem in a laneway of old Quebec City! Food, service, ambience 5 star 💫… just happened to pass by & decided to step in & have some food… wow! Amazing! Bison carpaccio, scallops, bison rib braised for 48 hrs! & boar filet mignon, poached pear to finish! Enjoyed this feast!
I decided to try the restaurant based on reviews & a recommendation that I had read. I had high hopes for Beclub as the first restaurant we had gone to the night before was excellent. When we first walked in, the restaurant was lovely. There were 5 or 6 tables on the main floor & it was a very spacious but cozy atmosphere. We were told that our table was upstairs & that there may not be much space for our stroller. My husband checked it out first, & reported back that there was no problem (ample space). When we arrived on the 2nd floor, the ambiance was the same - a few tables scattered across the floor, with a fireplace going - very cozy. We were seated next to the window, & were able to squeeze in our stroller so that our 4m old could sit at the table with us. Funny enough - there was another family with a stroller upstairs as well. Maybe this is where stroller are banished to maintain their decorum downstairs. HA.
I felt bad for our server given that he has to run up & down the stairs to take care of our table. He came back to take our drink orders, where we each ordered a drink & the scallops & bruschetta as apps. When he brought my drink, he had forgotten that my husband had ordered anything at all & asked if he would like to add something. We reminded him, no problem. We decided to order 3 main courses & share amongst the 4 of us (2 adults & 2 kids (6 & 8) since we weren't starving. We ordered the bison rib, trout with barley risotto & their version of mac n cheese. My son loved the bison & trout, while my daughter stuck with the pasta. The bison rib was fall-off-the-bone & very savoury, but very salty. The trout was cooked well & the barley risotto was surprisingly delicious. The pasta n cheese was rich & creamy & hit the right spots. Unfortunately, our server rarely made a presence other than to drop off our drinks & food. As I mentioned - he had to come up & down the stairs to take care of us, so I assume he just kind of forgot about us. He eventually came back to clear our plates so we were able to ask for our bill (in which we were told we could go downstairs to settle up).
The atmosphere was lovely & very warm. But the service & food were a little lackluster for us - especially for the prices. My husband & I are not unfamiliar with fine dining & the prices that accompany it, so I feel confident in saying that I expected a bit more.
This was such a great discovery! The service was so friendly, & the cocktails, wine, food were all amazing - a menu full of interesting variety / canadian food / unique pairings (loved the bison carpaccio!). The restaurant is also very cozy & comfy, with fireplaces & sofas for some of the seating options. Thank you for a great night! ❤?
