Genuine five-star review! We tried their lunch menu. Main Course, appetizers, & desserts are all fantastic. The seasonings are perfectly balanced, ingredients are fresh, & you can really taste the care put into cooking. The staff are attentive, & the space is clean & cozy. I've already recommended this place to everyone I know & will definitely come back again!

Une super expérience au restaurant Chez Boulay. Les plats & desserts étaient excellents. L'équilibre de chacun des plats servis était juste & subtil. L'accueil & le service étaient à la hauteur des plats. Une excellente adresse !

We are visiting Quebec City & so looked forward to our experience at Chez Boulay as we are staying at the Hotel Manoir Victoria. I was treating my travel companion to dinner as a thank you for planning our trip. My pre-dinner gin & tonic was flat, but I opted to not give feedback or ask for a replacement. We asked for the wine list (twice), but the wine wasn't served until after our entrees. My friend ordered the braised beef cheek & I ordered the flat iron steak. The beef cheek was dry, tough & well below warm, & very difficult to cut with a steak knife. My flat iron steak was tough & cold, as was the sauce. We decided to let the server know & my friend was served a bowl of the garlic confit mashed potatoes as a replacement (something she had requested with her beef cheek but was told they couldn't accommodate substitutions), but it was appreciated. We said no thank you to dessert, but they gifted a dessert anyway which was kind.

The service was very slow overall, but after we gave feedback on the meals service completely disappeared. They did remove the beef cheek from from the bill. The wine & fries were the very best part of the meal. Based on previous reviews, I feel we went on a bad night, but unfortunately, we can't try again as we are returning home tomorrow.

The food was incredible! A perfect 5 stars. They change their menu 4-5x per year & I only wish I lived closer so I visit each time. The only reason I gave 4 stars was because of the service. We ordered an appetizer with our mains, but our mains came out first. When we mentioned the missing appetizers, the waiter who brought out our food said they never received an order for the appetizer. They took back our mains & put in the order for the app. This was all fine but it took us a while to get our food because of this. The waitress who took our initial order seemed absent minded, lost & not really paying attention. When it was time to order dessert our waitress took 20 minutes to come back for our order even though our menus were closed & we were trying to get her attention. She passed by our table several times purposefully avoiding eye contact with us. That being said the desserts were absolutely incredible! I highly recommend the creme brûlée & goat cheese cremeux.

Visited from Toronto.

This is a great, chic & elegant restaurant in Quebec City. It has great Quebec style dishes, drinks & dessert.

We really enjoyed the carpaccio appetizer & the fish main dish!

Our server Floron was phenomenal & provided excellent & funny service during our dinner. Highly recommend!

Nous avons essayé pour la première fois cet établissement dans le cadre de « Québec Table Gourmande ».

Le restaurant offrait un menu 3 services à 65$/personne.

Les plats montrent un grand savoir faire de l'équipe en cuisine. Le montage était magnifique & minutieux. Les aliments frais & bien apprêtés. Un peu trop salé, par contre. & le dessert manquait un peu de goût.

Les cocktails sont limités & coûtent près de 20$. Les recettes sont intéressantes & créatives.

La carte des vins est très variées & élégante, mais fait rapidement monter la facture. Par contre il y a un bon éventail de choix pour le vin au verre, ce qui est une belle alternative.

Le service était excellent & la liste musicale était très plaisante.

En résumé, sans l'événement de découverte culinaire dont nous avons profité, nous n'aurions pas tenté l'expérience. À cause du prix de ses menus, ce n'est pas vraiment un restaurant abordable pour les gens de classe moyenne.

Malgré cela, Chez Boulay reste un établissement de renom au centre de notre beau Vieux-Québec & je considère qu'il faut l'essayer au moins une fois dans sa vie.

I went here for dinner. I did not have a reservation, & was seated at the bar. service was friendly & fast. the mocktail was delicious, as well as the entree & the main. I was too full for dessert. I liked it so much i am tempted to return again. It is certainly not cheap, but bloody delicious.
